I didn't see a thread posted for this yet...
So Congratulations to all of this year's Regional Chairman's Award winners!!
Since I have seen some new winners at some of the events I have attended, I was very curious about this year's stats!
Here are some stats, along with this year's winners so far. Note: I have NOT included district winners yet as we still need to see who win's at their District Championships to head off to St. Louis! [I may post more on that later]
Longest Streak (& most wins so far): 1538 The Holy Cows - 5 years at the San Diego regional
2nd Longest Streak - 1912 Team Combustion - 4 years at Bayou
Youngest RCA '13 - 3880 Tiki Techs
Oldest Team winning 1st RCA - 128 The Botcats
Number of RCA Wins:
5 Wins: 2 - 1538, 1311
4 Wins: 5 - 1305, 1912, 2486, 1086, 1540
3 Wins: 12 - 836, 537, 1429, 1710, 384, 1868, 126, 291, 2016, 771, 1987, 1983
2 Wins: 10 - 131, 1323, 1741, 1515, 2936, 2046, 1306, 230, 1885, 1902
1st Win: 18 - 2809, 2468, 3627, 1100, 2826, 1660, 781, 3211, 2974, 1208, 128, 296, 3374, 3880, 525, 2220, 3660
Other Interesting Facts
- Only 3 teams this year so far have won RCA at the SAME regional that they won at last year.
- 14 of the 46 Regional Winners (so far) won an RCA in 2012, 11 of those were at a different Regional
- Notably missing from last year's list (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105698) are teams like 1108, 340 & 79 all with 7 wins under their belts [234(7wins) & 604(5wins) still haven't hit the list, but they are competing in upcoming events and perhaps have yet to submit?]
- 694(4wins) & 932(4wins) were also missing from the list, as well as 2169(4wins) - but 2169 still has Colorado if they are submitting there.
It seems to be a brand new year, with plenty of new faces and amazing new programs!! Congratulations to all of the RCA winners so far, and we are looking forward to see who is added in week 6 & 7!!

Thanks for putting this data together Kims.
I think that should be 2486.
Also it would be great if we could get more of the winning submissions published for others to be inspired by.
We are collecting submissions on a google doc page. For more information look here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114127&highlight=submissions).

Good catch! With 2468, and 2486 both winning this year, I accidentally transposed! (Another Fun fact, we could have 2468, 2486, and 2648 this year if 2648 wins at Maine!)

What an nightmare alliance that would be for an Emcee!

What an nightmare alliance that would be for an Emcee!
Now imagine that alliance, but do a reverse introduction (start with blue 3 going to blue 1, red 3 to red 1, and read all the numbers backward). Good luck to the Game Announcer figuring out which team was being intro'd!

2771 won the DCA at Traverse City, but would not be eligible to win an RCA outside of Michigan. I'm not sure if there is a similarly-numbered team who you meant to add there. Still a nice job putting this together!

This is the fact that really jumped out at me as I have been watching who has been winning over the last 5 weeks of competition. Last year out of all the RCA winners for 7 weeks of competition, the first time winners totaled less than this years YTD first time winners total, and we still have two weeks to go!
Huge congrats to all teams that have won an RCA this year!!

With that being said, and the highly unlikely winner to be a 1st year RCA, guesses might be a lot more accurate on who actually wins this year at CMP.
I made a fun bet on the two that I am choosing for this year.
Last year was easy.:)
I'd bet this years WCA trophy smells like bacon.

You missed Team 236, the Techno Ticks, from the list completely. They won the CT Regional 6 years in a row (2004-2009) as well as winning at BAE in NH in 2003 for a total of 7 consecutive Regional Chairman's wins. They were award the Chairman's at Championships in 2009.
Then how would they have won it in 2013...

No, because 233 didn't win it this year according the FIRST. https://my.usfirst.org/myarea/index.lasso?page=team_details&tpid=83195

116 won at DC
No, they won EI. 1885 won RCA at DC.
You can't forget about 27 and 503. I believe this year one of those teams will be admitted to the Hall of Fame. In the past 9 years, 503 has took home 7 RCAs and 27 has took home 5.

No, I believe they submitted at Orlando. If i'm not mistaken there are currently two 2013 RCA winners from Florida. Team 3627 from the Orlando Regional and Team 1902 from the South Florida Regional.

Technically, neither us nor 503 have won RCA this year because MSC hasn't happened yet, and nobody in Michigan or Mid Atlantic can be put on the list because we all only have district Chairman's awards. RCA's will be decided next weekend.

Congrats to 1675: The Ultimate Protection Squad form winning RCA at Midwest! Seems to be a pretty great regional for 'em!

Not true. 2016 from New Jersey (a MAR team) won RCA at Buckeye.
That rule is something we thought carried over from FiM; however, MAR teams are only restricted to submitting WFA and Dean's List inside the MAR district events.
This is an intriguing rule...
Only six Chairman's Awards are left after this weekend, five from State Championships and one from the Chesapeake Regional. I'm excited to see which six teams earn the last six banners.

I believe that fellow West Virginia team 337 won their second RCA at Crossroads Regional this weekend.

I know that. But almost every year 27 and 503 won a DCA, they took the RCA at States. I still think DCA winners should be put on the list in a different section. Achieving a DCA is just as challenging as the RCA.

I'd place my money on 27 and 503 as well. Both teams have had repeated success in the Michigan District system and are certainly some of the most decorated Chairman's Award winning teams. I believe 27 has amassed 7 RCAs and 4 DCAs and 503 has snagged 7 RCAs, 5 DCAs, and a Honorable Mention at Worlds in 2006 or so.
I saw both of their programs as well as the other DCA winners this year when I went with my wife to the MSC. Both teams there had absolutely fantastic and inspiring stories and content. Blew me away :)

I wonder what would happen if the WCA judges had a deadlock and couldnt pick just one team.
Coin flip?
One of the reasons that I'm not a fan of having multiple judge rooms for presentations. Teams have to rely on their judges to 'sell' their program to the other sets of judges.
Both teams there had absolutely fantastic and inspiring stories and content. Blew me away :)
As an alumni of team 27, and someone with friends who graduated from 503, 33, and some other great FiM teams, I have to agree with you. (And yes, I will be biased here ;) even though I'm trying not to be)
There are many things that teams like 503, 27, 33, and awesome up-and-comers like 2337 do above and beyond in FiM and outside of it. But it's not always the "big name" teams doing this alone, there's a lot of inspiration (at least there was to me) from teams and people I (and the teams) have interacted with.
For example, when I was on Team RUSH, in 2011, we hosted a rookie team (3534, then Team Gizmo, now House of Cards) in our shop. It was an enlightening experience for me, a junior at the time. I hope someone from 3534 will read this, because I want to say that working with them, as weird as it may sound, motivated me to educate people about FIRST more, and inspire existing participants to continue on and inspire others. I would say that every rookie team has it tough, so coming from a team that operates like a well-oiled machine year after year, it was like a wake up call saying that there ARE teams out there that need(ed) help getting started.
And cheering for other teams. Cheering for the accomplishments of others is what made FIRST what it was for me. That's the point of this long and semi-off-topic post. No matter who wins the "big one" this year, I will feel inspired, as I always have, by their accomplishments and achievements, but also by who they interacted with to get there. It's not one team doing all the work, it's every other team they've competed with, competed against, built with, shared ideas with, and just had FUN with, helping them along the way. Of course I'd love to see 27 win it, but to be honest, I'd be happy if 503 won, or even teams I've never seen or heard of, like 604 or 2080.
FIRST is about inspiration. Every team I've ever seen has inspired me in some way. From the one-person team this year, to the stories of the original 28 in 1992.
My advice: don't let an award shape your team - if you do that you'll never be happy (And you'll never win ;) ). Let your members shape your team, let your mentors shape your team, and let other teams shape your team.
Yes, that was a jumble of thoughts. Props if you read it all. :p

Congrats to all RCA winners, and a personal congratulations to team 525.
Swartdogs, that RCA was well overdue. You guys deserved it. :)
Whenever Chairman's Award winners are announced, my palms sweat and my fingers get tingly. It's like Christmas morning and waiting to see if Santa got you that soldering iron you wanted :P

I know that. But almost every year 27 and 503 won a DCA, they took the RCA at States. I still think DCA winners should be put on the list in a different section. Achieving a DCA is just as challenging as the RCA.
Winning a MSC or or DCA in Michigan is actually much more competitive with so many teams, amazing engineers/mentors associated with the Big 3 in Detroit, and the inspiration that drives these teams as a result of these kinds of mentors who have worked with so many other companies from around the area. 27 and 503 are definitely an inspiration growing up in the area. I don't know much about 2337 and their programs, as they is part of a newer generation, though I'm sure they are on their way to achieving a wonderful chairmans worthy team. From what I heard, they're a great bunch of kids too! I graduated from the area many years ago, and have just been amazingly blessed to have such a family and team behind me every step of the way. It's not just about the award, the team or mentors, but the legacy the team brings to the table because they are inspired by the mentors, the innovation in Detroit and all the its supporters. It may be a competitive area, so it just makes the innovate and find more inspiration to go above and beyond and I think that's what happened to all their students in the video here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P-EwzgF0-w
