Who is excited? Team 3654 is !!
I certainly am!
Watch out for some improvements from 2067.... Maybe a 7 disc autonomous for this ;)
Can't wait for some nice competition at this event :D

Aluminum Falcons are in.
And thanks to Sue Glasspiegel's (and the rest of CT FIRST) great effort in putting this together. Even as the 3rd-smallest state, CT has huge depth in our robotics teams. This will be a challenging event.

On the list as well! :)
Robo Squad will be there.
1071 will be there! As for myself I'll be volunteering. I'm looking forward to a fun day!
Looking forward to seeing my teams from CT compete!
Team 999, the Mecharams, is planning on showing up as well!
Buzz is planning to attend and we are looking forward to seeing our fellow CT teams! CT teams always work hard, compete hard but always have a good time doing it and are among the friendliest in FIRST.:yikes:
4055 will be there but it is junior prom night so we will be bringing in some of the new members to take up the slack. (We made a secret weapon in Maine) :yikes:

UberBots will be there! I myself can't make it, but the team is excited. Many thanks to those who are working to make this happen.

I heard that 41 teams are going to be there. Anyone heard of a list of who's going?
I heard that 41 teams are going to be there. Anyone heard of a list of who's going?
I sent an information packet to the team main and alternate contacts, plus the person who registered the team (if different) on Friday afternoon. It contains the list of teams attending, plus details about the event including location, parking, load-in, schedule, food, etc.
All the CT FRC teams will be there with with the exception of: 716 (Housatonic Valley Regional HS), 2785 (Kent School), 3719 (New London), 4572 (Redding).
We are encouraging teams to do load-in and pit setup on Friday from noon to 7pm since there will only be a small opportunity to do load-in on Saturday morning from 7-7:30am.
We are still looking for a few volunteers to help out. And I think we still need one practice field goal wall.
See everyone on Friday/Saturday!

177 may be able to provide the practice field goal. Don't take my word on it though, I will have to check on it. (We may not have room on the bus)

If you can provide the wall please have your team contact contact Ken Kasner per the email sent on Friday, Thanks!

How is this only 5 days away? Feels like just yesterday we were sitting in the Edward Jones dome...
Oh well looking forward to seeing some of CT's finest that weren't at Champs this year go head to head again!
See you Friday night! :ahh:
I can't wait for Saturday! It will be an absolute blast to referee so many amazing teams from CT again! Especially those teams I didn't get to ref in Boston or Hartford! Good luck everyone!

First, does anyone know how many projected qualifications matches we're going to have? There are only about 4.5 hours set aside for qualification matches.
Second, what are AP Physics students doing, since the tests are on Monday afternoon? Is anyone interested in setting up something similar to the study groups at Championships, or are you all planning on just studying on Sunday? Unfortunately, there are no physics teachers on our team.

Doing the simple math, only 30 qualification matches can be played. They might save some time by doing some "speed rounds" as the day goes on (quickly announcing the teams, no flags, etc). Still I can't see any more than 35 matches possible in 4.5 hours.
That means a maximum of 210 "slots" (6 slots per match); divided among 40 teams, that means no mare than 5 qualification matches can be possible in this time frame.
I'm guessing 4 rounds though, with some teams playing a 5th that won't count. So it's not going to be doing a great job of sorting the best teams in the top 8.
The alternative is to follow the Minnesota model, where teams come in pre-ranked based on their best regional performance. We'll have to see how this goes this year.

Load in and setup is taking place now! Can't imagine trying to pack all the craziness into 1 day, the action starts in 15.5 hours!
Won't be doing it at the armory again next year? Gonna blow the top off the joint this year! 42 teams! 105dB! Be sure to bring ear protection!
Will there be any webstreaming for this event?

Only two alliances I know:
#2: 2168, 230, 2064
#7: 1124, 181, 236
some activity in tweetland omgrobots angryeric etc
Not there, but 558 is 5th seed alliance captain with 177 and 1699.
Shelton's been our media hero for quite a while. Nothing obvious there. :(

So no webcast? =/
My inside informant says PBS was supposed to broadcast it, but their truck broke.
Finals: 2nd seed 2168, 230 and 2064 vs. 5th seed 558, 177 and 1699.
In my Personnal opinion semi finals one matches 1-3 where the best matches o the day an that I have seen all year, congrats to 558, 177, 1699 you guys has an amazing strategy that worked to perfection. Very impressive to watch

Congratulations to the winners of the first Connecticut State Championship, 558 RoboSquad from New Haven, 177, Bobcats from South Windsor, and 1699 RoboCats from Colchester. I christen them RoboCatSquad.
This #5 seeded alliance played an awesome defensive strategy in the semifinals defeating 195 CyberKnights FCS, 228 GUS wicked rapid cycler and 3104 CyberRams defense.
In the Finals, they defeated 2168 Aluminum Falcons, 230 GaelHawks, and 2064 Panther Project. (Two Birds and a Cat)
Highlights:
A frisbee tossed to the #5 seed with the third alliance selection of 1699.
The Bobcats, 177, finally getting a competition win.
Being recognized by the CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) is very important to the future of FIRST in Connecticut and treating Robotics as a high school team sport.
The Armory was a beautiful old venue with a huge skylight but questionable acoustics.
A good start to our adoption of the District Model next year.
If anyone has recorded match results and/or selection results, I would appreciate a link or a posting here.

Congratulations to the Winning alliance, 558, 177, and 1699
and to everyone that made this scrimmage possible. I have a lot of fun. I hope to see you all soon.:)
On behalf of team 558, I want to thank our amazing alliance partners, team 177 Bobcats and team 1699 RoboCats. Bobcats, we loved playing with you in qualification rounds at WPI and CT and were thrilled to get the chance to work with you in eliminations. And 1699, you guys were an absolute steal in the second round. It was a no-brainer to put your number on that Frisbee :)
Thanks also to the finalists teams 2168, 230 and 2064 and to semi-finalists 228, 195 and 3104. Both the finals and semi-finals were exciting and well played by all teams.
For a first time event, everything seemed to run fairly smoothly. Thanks to all the volunteers and CT FIRST for making this event possible.

I cannot deny my sheer respect for each team in the winning alliance. Each of the three teams could have lead their own alliance had the quals been set up differently. Each of those teams deserved a big win this season.
The Robo-bob-cat-squad was overpowering to say the least. Even with all wheels on our alliance, I don't think the outcome would have been different (closer, probably, but not different). When Robocats went over in their first semi, yet only lost by 10, I was pretty sure of the outcome.
Talking to other coaches before the start of the semis, we were astounded at the quality of Connecticut's depth; any of the final four alliances could have taken it all. Both semis went to 3 games, and it was 6 fan.tas.tic. matches to watch (i have NO fingernails left!)
Only regrets are for GUS and BUZZ; these two monosyllabic superteams are still deserving a big win this season. GUS, see you at BattleCry; BUZZ, see you at Beantown.
And Ticks, also another monosyllabic great, with the 50 point climb! See you guys at the Bash!
I want to second Bill's request for video, especially of the semi-finals and finals. We didn't get any, and I'd really like to have some for our archives.
Thanks for any help you great folks on Delphi can give!

177 has a ton of video, I will be sorting through our footage later today and uploading it.
Somehow, I knew you guys would :D
If you could post when and where it's posted, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, and Happy Mother's Day to all the RoboMoms out there!

A huuuuuuge congrats to 177, 558, and 1699! You all deserve the win and it was incredible to play against your alliance in the semis. In all honesty, that last semi match was the most emotional match on my career.
Thank you to our alliance, 195 and 3104! It was a pleasure to play with you guys. After four years CyberGUS finally got their alliance together and it was awesome to finally play on the same side of the field as you!
Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors and CT FIRST fellows, it was a smooth event with little hicups. I've very excited for district play years year after seeing how this event was run.
Congrats to our close friends 195 for taking away the CT champs equivalent of the Chairmans award! I can't think of a more deserving team. You're practice field and your teams dedication is an enormous help throughout the year. Gino, Lance, Sandra, Stephen, Misty, George and all of the mentors I missed, thank you for everything this year, I love you guys like my family.
On that note I couldn't be any prouder of my team, it was a day of ups and downs but in the end even though we couldn't get the banner, it was a win in my eyes. Now who's ready for Battlecry?!

The videos are being uploaded currently, we have video of 177 (except for one quarterfinal match). The angle is not the best for some of the matches, but we will be uploading footage from our Contour and camcorder within the coming weeks. The videos can be view here: Videos (http://www.youtube.com/user/bobcatrobotics)
Thanks for getting this done so quickly! Again, it was a real treat working with you guys. See you in Wolcott!

195 sends congrats to 558, 1699 and 177!
558, you were especially AMAZING and put together an awesome alliance and strategy!
Thank you to our alliance, 228 and 3104! It was a dream come true to play the "cyber-gus" alliance with you both.
Team GUS, the respect 195 has for your team has no end. We value your friendship immensely. We share a vision....to bring all the CT teams to a stronger sense of community because together, we all get better and learn more! To all CT teams: here's to building many more and stronger friendships next season!
Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors, very well run event indeed!
A special thank you to all Connecticut teams who voted for 195. We were truly humbled and honored to be selected for the CT Choice Award. That award meant more to our team than any other achievement this season because it came from YOU!
195 looks forward to building with you all an even stronger Connecticut FIRST community in the 2014 season

On behalf of Team 230, I would like to add our congrats to the winning alliance 177, 558, and 1699. You were a force to be reckoned with. I would also like to thank 2168 for picking us. It was amazing working with you and awesome to take it all the way to the finals. And to 2064 for being there every step of the way to help our alliance get there.
I would also like to give a shout out to our all freshman drive team. As our regular drive team was headed to prom, these freshman stepped up and drove in all but 2 matches that day. They did a great job with exceedingly little experience. It was a nice peek into the future.
And we would also like to add our appreciation for all the volunteers running this inaugural event. The day went smoothly and other than some difficulties hearing the announcing due to the difficult acoustics in the beautiful old armory building it was an amazing event.
Finally I would like to add our congratulations to Team 195 for their winning of the CT Championship chairman's-like Award. So glad to see your team recognized for all you do. Your outreach to other CT teams and sharing all that you have with them is a model for us all to follow. I too am looking forward to more camaraderie among the CT teams as we head to districts next year.
Hoping to see everyone up at BattleCry!!
Just a couple shout outs:
Congratulations to the winners, 177, 558, and 1699. You guys had truly inspirational robots.
A huge, enourmous thank you to teams 1991, 2067 and 230 for helping us out with our electronics problems that caused us to miss matches in the morning. We truly appreciate the effort you put in to help get our robot working. On that note, an apology is owed to everyone who was affected by our faulty robot. Congratulations to teams 1699 and 2067 for managing to win a match with only two robots on your alliance. We regret not being able to join you, as well as teams 1991, 181, 3654 and 3718.
I want to thank the teams of CT, the CIAC and CT FIRST for making the CT Championship a great event. It was a lot of fun, there were a LOT of good matches and it definitely shows that CT teams have the “FIRST stuff”! We have enjoyed playing with all the teams and look forward to playing with you in the upcoming New England District System. One thing I took away this year talking to folks in District systems at Championship is how it helped formed better bonds between teams. We have seen some of this in 2013, and we look forward to strengthening & building these bonds.
Thanks to our alliance partners 2067 for choosing us and 155. Both of you are good teams we are proud to play with. It was great to see how the kids worked so well together and we thought they all did a super job for our teams.
Congrads to our friends at 177, 558 and 1699 – you were awesome! To our friends 228, 195 and 3104 – you fought well and played hard -no one could have asked for better finals with these six teams!
And to our up & coming underclassmen robot-masters - you did a great job on the drive team, in the pits and programming. A special thanks to our “retiring” & “life” member/driver (Kelsie!) who got to practice coaching.
“It’s all good!”
