This will be the most intense selections in a very long time. When will teams that were thought to be top tier but fell below 8th be selected? It begins!

1678 just broke up EVERYONE on Curie.
1717, 2056, 1310, and 359 all declined them (in that order).

1678 majorly scorched Curie.

1717, 2056, 1310, and 359 declined.

Is the Archimedes' stream broken for anyone else?

And wow, what happened on Curie is crazy.

Archimedes.

Thanks. Has 2468 been shooting for threes or twos? They'll probably be deadly with 254 if not blocked.

341 declines (not sure who)

341 declined 128

The NASA stream (http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/robotics/) of Archimedes works....except no audio.

Archimedes(might not have declines due to lack of audio on stream):
5. 126 3310 1756

1756 on Arch #5

I think the mass of declines will seal the Curie Curse for this year. All the top teams were prevented from joining. In curie, the #8 captain is the #8 rank

Definitely...Curie had a great chance...but all the declines

3's. And they are darn good at it.

I am genuinely scared at all of these alliances. Holy crap.

It's crazy 610 was picked 5th to last and 125 wasn't picked at all on Galileo... just to name a couple I'm sure there are many other teams that were undervalued or snubbed.

27-04-2013, 12:10
Just because Curie was broken up didn't mean they got bad picks. I still don't think Curie can compete with Archenemies though.

The breaking up probably made 4814's day and gave them a real chance for the finals. I'm not sure why 1717 declined, but the other declines made sense to me. I would not be surprised in 4814, 67 and 1918 come out on top in this division.

I agree; Curie is still full of great alliances. But to compete with the other divisions, those teamups needed to happen.

27-04-2013, 12:17
25 didn't get picked?

They showed a 20 pt climb with dump and capable 3 disk auton. Also, they played on Einstein in '11 and '12.

I'm amazed at how many alliances are 3-10pt climbers. Not a smart decision if you ask me. (preparing to eat my words)

Also, 2169's alliance is funny. It's made up of them and two strong blockers.

I'm calling either 118-1114-4039 or 1538-1986-217 to win.

Its funny, i actually just started a thread for predictions :p Mind switching it over?

I'm willing to bet that this year's champs will be the youngest team yet. Currently 1114 is the highest numbered team that has won Einstein (2008). This year, there are only two alliances that have lower numbers: Archimedes 6 (948, 20, 973) and Curie 7 (359, 233, 16).

1756 on Arch #5
I think the mass of declines will seal the Curie Curse for this year. All the top teams were prevented from joining. In curie, the #8 captain is the #8 rank

Note that the Curie alliance won the first match against Archimedes by a significant margin and was very competitive until 1678 went dead in the second match. Much more competitive than the conventional wisdom thought.

Interesting that the alliance with the lowest OPR on Galileo ends up winning it all.

Would love to see some video of the Archimedes elims. I was unable to watch them as I was over on Curie, but man those scores are insane, with the almost all of them seeing losing scores of 200+. In particular, semifinal 2-2, which had a score of 266-216!

For what it's worth, the #2 alliance on Curie called in first backup 1138 Eagle Engineering to replace 2996 before Semi 2-2. 2996 was having some CAN related electrical/software issues in SF2-1 and could not continue.

2. 1983 3539 2996/1138
