Well now that the season is basically over im looking for something to keep me busy for a bit. I have a 4"x4"x2" block of aluminum that i want to do something with. Any ideas? I want the part to be useful in some way or another.

Is your mill a cnc? Also, I'm interested because I have the same situation going on. We need to cope with our less robot-y lives now!

Find something to improve on you robot and get to work with a redesign/iteration!

I used a cnc for this, but its pretty simple. Its a 1.5" cube that has a triangle circle and square (shapes sound familiar?) Cut out of each side about .5" deep. That way, after the last shape is cut out, the center peice is seperated but cannot be removed from the outer part of the block. I think its pretty neat, but it would be hard to make anything but the square without a cnc.

Nice! Challenging to do in a manual mill, but I wouldn't say it isn't doable

You'd need a rotary milling table with a manual mill for best result (CNC can step both X and Y at the same time to accomplish a circle).
Nice project! Make FIRST logo paperweights?
