Darn, letting someone else handle applying...trying to resist the urge to apply...must let others take ownership...resistance is futile!
Is it sad that I've put IRI on my bucket list? Maybe next season our robot will be ready :-)

Come without the robot! Spectate! Volunteer! Hang out at the premiere robotics tournament in the world! (Einstein was the beta test for IRI)
I'd be tempted to volunteer if I could find the funding to do so. Hmmm - I can chalk it up to preparing for the Red Stick Rumble. :-)

I second that. I volunteered last year for the first time; thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I wonder, will the process include recommendations as it did last year?

Hello, I am from team 2531 and we wish to register for IRI but we are confused by what you mean by the team video in the application form?
I wonder, will the process include recommendations as it did last year? This was really neat last year.
So excited!

I'd like to know this as well!
I second that. I volunteered last year for the first time; thoroughly enjoyed the experience.Depending on what role you choose as a volunteer, you may or may not have a chance to spectate the event. Field Reset will probably get you the best opportunity to spectate since you will be by the field and idle during the matches (except for the occasional chasing down of frisbees and re-entering them onto the field). Refereeing (my favorite volunteer position) will make you an active spectator, but you might miss 3/4 of the action because you need to be watching your quadrant of the field. Whether you get to spectate or not, volunteering is always fun and I highly recommend volunteering at IRI.

I believe what they are looking for in that section is video of how your robot performs. Either video from your competition or video that you took testing your robot out. If you are going to use a competition, I'd recommend using one where you performed very well, not necessarily just one where you won.

Is it sad that I've put IRI on my bucket list? Maybe next season our robot will be ready :-)Not sad, exciting. It has the feel of a small regional (really a lot like one of our MAR districts) but with a competition level like St Louis. And, it is a great place to meet some really cool people.

Should we just email in our endorsements to pc@indianaroboticsinvitational.org?

What exactly are you looking for under the "What was your best performance this year?" category? Are you looking for a specific match, a small subset of matches or the event where we think we had the best performance?

Question, by submitting an application to attend, would our team be financially committed to the event if we were accepted or would we be able to decline to go if it wasn't within our team's finances?
Chris Fultz
12-05-2013, 17:04
we like for you to be "reasonably sure" you can attend, but we realize that things can change and teams may not get approval.
We will send invites, and then teams have time to decide for sure and to 'register' and pay.

I know! I was telling 4451's mentors about it after they signed up for SCRIW. I was hoping for them to become only the second South Carolina team to make the cut (343 went in 2003 and 2010).

1986 maybe?
I was just listing 2012 IRI winners and 2013 Einstein Teams.
1986 maybe?
I asked AB about it, and he said their drive team was itching to go.
Hopefully this is just a case of procrastination and they'll register in the next few hours, as they're almost too good not to go.

The website said EST, and it looks like it's just been reopened. So it must have been a small mistake, not a problem anymore. Thank you, Chris!
...Happy Birthday Hallry!

Thank you!

same thinking here except they need some Minnesotans :P
Thank you very much, Chris!
Fingers Crossed, to get an Invitation.
You need some rookies at the event ;PBest of luck :] 100% of rookies* in IRI elims last year won the whole enchilada, so it's a pretty good record having rookies around! ;)
*also known as team 4334. 2056 did it in 2007, too.
...Happy Birthday Hallry!
Thanks. A 2013 IRI Invitation would be a nice gift :p

It's telling me they aren't accepting submissions and I'm slightly panicking! Anyone having a similar problem or know how to fix it?!?

It's Chairman's submission/first day of event registation/FIRST Choice opening/(insert qualm on quality of usfirst.org's servers here) all over again!

Yep, it looks like it got closed again. Just for the record in case this problem isn't fixed soon, team 3958 just tried to submit.
Maybe someday I will learn not to procrastinate on these things...
It's telling me they aren't accepting submissions and I'm slightly panicking! Anyone having a similar problem or know how to fix it?!?Other than trying a different browser or something, not so much. It might have closed early again on accident. Just spitballing, but you might email it to pc@indianaroboticsinvitational.org and just explain you can't get through (if you can't fix it, obviously).

Well, I applied for my team the day it came out.
However, I'm currently doing a project for school that's due tomorrow, so I don't have any room to talk.
