This was already posted (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116417) in the Electrical sub-forum, but not everyone ventures there. Our team has developed a new quadrature encoder that we are trying to get into production. Our goal is to move this component from the realm of custom circuit to COTS part that any team can use and benefit from.

We started a Kickstarter Project (http://kck.st/147OyqI) to fund the first batch of fully assembled units, and will know in two weeks if we can successfully move from prototype to production.

We're down to the last two days of our Kickstarter campaign (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/951897038/a-quadrature-encoder-for-the-real-world), and we are very grateful for the support that we have gotten from the Chief Delphi and FIRST community. Unfortunately we still need more help to cross the finish line.

We've constructed a set of prototype boards, and have revised the design. This is what the mass-produced board will likely be:

Unlike our earlier prototype design, this one allows ambidextrous mounting, as the sensor is in the middle, rather than the side.
