The 2013 GRITS (Georgia Robotics Invitational Tournament and Showcase) event will be happening this year! And......has moved venues! It's now on October 5th, 2013 in the Georgia World Congress Center (previous co-host to the FIRST World Championships in the great city of Atlanta). If you're interested, stay tuned!

I think there are quite a few teams in the metro Atlanta area that jumping for joy. That drive down to Warner Robbins was no joke.

Either way, glad to see something's back in Atlanta. For now, GRITS will have to do.

Man, what is it with October 5? The Gamecocks will be playing at home (and most/all of the Columbia teams will be working it), and THOR is the same day (and effectively equidistant). Fortunately, the former makes the latter moot.

Hopefully we'll see some of y'all at SCRIW the week after. :)

Who else has signed up?

We're considering it; it's in the middle of BEST season but at least this year it's not on the same day as the local competition.

Congratulations to 3581, 1683, 4509 for winning GRITS 2013.

Such 3rd person.

But yes, a good set of congratulations are in order. It seems like everyone and their mentors were having problems on that day. It seems that it take a it of a skill and the right cards to win at GRITS.

It was great to see and work with a lot of you guys. It's always nice to step away from the forums and meet on the field.

Sorry, a bit late in posting this, but here (http://info.automationdirect.com/education/images/GRITS_Trophies_2013.jpg) is a picture of two of the six GRITS trophies that were presented at the event.

All the pneumatic parts were donated by AutomationDirect.com (http://www.automationdirect.com/). The trophies are dynamic and grow to almost twice their starting height at the flip of the hand valve. More details in the video here. (http://bit.ly/grits-trophy)

AutomationDirect.com is planning to provide some equally unique (yet different) trophies for next year. Hope to see you at GRITS 2014!
