Engineer on team Bol'ler Associates from Linganore High School sponsored by NASA/GFSC and Smiths Industries.

I have noticed that some teams attend two regionals and even three regionals then the nationals.

Our team doesn't have those deep of pockets. As a rookie team, we can just afford one regional. The problem is that we can't get into either of the closest regionals (Richmond, Va or Philly) because they are booked up. We are forced to travel to NYC.

Shouldn't there be a rule that every team is guaranteed a local regional and teams wishing to attend more than one would be put on a waiting list.

yes. we were very late in filing our registration.
What do we know, we are rookies.

well frankly the best you can hope for is to be put on the waiting list as of now and hope a team cancels out on the regional you want to go to, but if you go to Philly see ya there!

Yes! All teams should be guaranteed a local competition. For teams who can afford to go to more than one, they should put down their top five or so choices. Then, after every team has gotten a spot (Dec 8), FIRST can fill in the remaining spaces, team by team, in the order they submitted their applications.

On the other hand, maybe this is unfair to veteran teams in some way?

Our team was also forced to choose New York City since we are a rookie team and did not secure enough funding until late in the registration period.
