a possible vacume

One of my team mates notified me of the vact the the air compressor cannot be modified, or rather that it is not legal to modify it, so that it can produce a vacume or suction. But wut if u wur 2 link the ends two of the cylinders and use their motion to creat a vacume. In other words as one gets pushed in suction is created in one in and when the other ins pushed in suction is created in the opposite cylinder. So if anyone could tell me if that would be legal i'd sure be grateful, or if u have any good designs usind these same parts let me know aight?!? Thanx!

I believe that this would be within the rules. I think you could also connect an electrical motor to the cylinder to do this.

The question I have is what do you do with that vacuum? Rule M14 states that "Only items listed under the PNEUMATICS secion of the Kit list may be used to store, generate, or transmit compresed air or vacuum" and team update #2 elimited the possibility of fabricating suction cups.

The pneumatics guys at the kickoff mentioned that the compressor was also designed as a vacuum pump and thought running it backward would produce a vacuum. I'm not sure he was right, he was a salesman not an engineer.
