Hey everyone,

I think that only about 1 out of 35 teams will be able to do it affectively, but I think may teams will try and not succeed. In a way I hope may teams prove me wrong.

Kate,

If this were any other team (with only a few exceptions), I'd dismiss this as a joke. The problem is, I have seen what your team can accomplish.

I can't wait to see Boris on stage. Good luck!

Mike,

Don't give them to much credit. Apparently they can't decided with animal they want thier machine to imitate. First it was hampster's now it's spiders. I expect that they will be flying over the stage like brids soon and dropping the balls into the goal. Spiders, and Hampsters, and Goats...OH MY!!!

Only problem with spiders is that they usally get squished.

I can thinks a lots of ways to go over that bar, I will
be honest I didn't much any of them.

I will be very impressed with robots that can get over
the bar before the match is all over WHILE not leaving
pieces of their robot all over.

Hit the ground running!

Well I can think of one design that can "swim" and "skim" over the bar in less than 3 seconds. You just need the right software and a variation of the Aztec bot from '99. But it would take some extra motors to get over quickly which would not leave much for other functions.

What am I doing on this forum giving people Wild ideas? I should be doing some analysis or Stangthing!

We plan on being on the other side of that fence plenty of times and with plenty of time to do some serious damage...

We weren't "imitating" hamsters.. we were using them as an alternate source of power..

Hamsters can drive spidery legs.. you can only imagine...

A Goat which morphs into a Spider all by the wonderous miracles produced by a little furry powerhouse.. Harness the magic..

Hey... your ruining the tradition of grinding up the floor of the robotics lab -- not to mention carpet on FIRST fields. By the way, don't give Gompei '01 any self-modifying code. please

We're also going against a long standing tradition of non-standard drivelines... But don't worry... the genetic re-engineering required by the combination of the Mountain Goat, Hampster, and Spider powers will satisfy our need to be design-happy.

It is actually quite easier to get over the bar then under, because that allows a much bigger space for the robot to go over. I can already see robot with tank treads able to raise the front of their base up there, and just ride right over the bar. And don't forget the pneumatics... one thick actuator can have 180 lbs of force comming out of it, imagine a robot with two of those hopping over the bar. A large arm can also flip a robot over those bars... plus many other ways.

As for T190's spider robot, I can't wait to see it in action.

Right on Timmy, people thought we were joking about hampsters, now they will see that the hampster is able to create unbridled power. See all disbelievers in New England and Long Island, as well as Florida.

ANTON-
I believe a fair amount of robots will jump the rail. I mean, if robots can handle being thrown off of bars after hanging in the air, they can handle a little flip-jolt.
Dean's robot robot dream is coming true.
