I know the captain of my team last year put up quotes on a board before every meeting. As co-captain this year, I have continued this tradition. I have found some fun and inspirational quotes and used some of them, but each time it gets tougher to find them. I'm sure some other teams out there does the same, so I'd like to start a list of quotes. I'm a big Disney fan, so I've used a lot of Walt Disney quotes. Here are a few:

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." -Walt Disney
"It's like WWE...but for smart people!" -George H.W. Bush speaking at FIRST Championship 2008
"Winning isn't always championships." -Michael Jordan
"If you are going to be stupid, be smart about it"
"Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself." -Mark Twain
"The best way to get started is to stop talking and begin doing." -Walt Disney
"For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen." -Douglas Adams
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." -Ferris Bueller
"'Well, we already bought the tickets' -Abe Lincoln" -Mike Birbiglia
"Good is the enemy of great." -Jim Collins
"Really, I thought you were the robit!" -Dr. Zoidberg
"Plus it" -Walt Disney

P.S. The book Dance First, Think Later has a lot of great quotes, though some of them are demotivational. Same with the bathrooms on Celebrity Cruises' men's bathrooms (went on it, but you can look it up too) also have great quotes, but most are demotivational, such as Lane Kirkland's "If hard work were such a wonderful thing, surely the rich would have kept it all to themselves."

Eli, a large amount of them came from either here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110253), here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98831&highlight=Inspirational+Quotes), Karthik (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfC3JdkEVgQ), or The New Cool (http://www.amazon.com/The-New-Cool-Visionary-Robotics/dp/0307588890/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1383150983&sr=8-1).

Thanks, but I'm looking for more that aren't FIRST or building specific. More thought provoking ones.

I really enjoy this website:
http://www.brainyquote.com/

You can look up topics, and find a number of good quotes, or you can look up people and find good quotes from them. For instance:

I am a big fan of Fred Brooks:
Here is a Wiki article on his Mythical Man Month book and a good quote:

"adding manpower to a late software project makes it later"

"There is a destiny that makes us brothers:
None goes his way alone:
All that we send into the lives of others
Comes back into our own.

I care not what his temples or his creeds,
One thing holds firm and fast
That into his fateful heap of days and deeds
The soul of man is cast. " - Edwin Markham

This is the camp creed at my camp, so I love it a lot. I still think it rings true for how close FIRST teams are and the part that all that you give into something, you get in return especially applies.

This one is more directed towards the teachers involved in the teams:

Teaching: we're not in it for the income; we're in it for the outcome.

There are also the following:

Sacrifice is giving up on something good for something better.

From the musical Newsies: If we stand as one someday becomes somehow.

From Thomas Edison: Opportunity is missed by people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

From Downton Abbey, for all the mentors plagued at some point by students who think they don't have anything to do: You are a [person] with a brain and reasonable ability. Stop whining and find something to do.

Not necessarily inspirational, but thought provoking none the less:
“He who knows not and knows not he knows not: he is a fool - shun him. He who knows not and knows he knows not: he is simple - teach him. He who knows and knows not he knows: he is asleep - wake him. He who knows and knows he knows: he is wise - follow him.”
