In my opinion there is little doubt that the drill
motors are the right motors to choose for the main
drive motors.

They are so much more powerful than the next nearest
motor it is the closest thing to a sure thing you have.

But... I can image that teams may have good, valid
reasons not to use them for this purpose. My point is
that the default has to be that you use the drill
motors, but with good engineering judgement you may
choose to use something other than the default.

That said, I really, really recommend that teams use
the drills as their drive motors. While I can imagine
many things, I have a hard time believing that there
will be some other activity that needs more power than
getting your robot around the field and over the fence
or bridge, especially in light of the time pressure
that this game will put on teams.

Power = work / time. Rearranging :

Work = Power * Time

If you have a fixed amount of work to do (e.g. pulling
80 pounds up a ramp), you either need to have more
Power (e.g. the drill motors) or more Time (a.k.a. a
lower score).

Think about it.
