Help Virginia become one of the first states to have a FIRST license plate!


FRC Team Sparky 384 from Richmond is developing a FIRST license plate for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The goal is to increase public awareness of STEM and FIRST.

450 paid applications are needed to make this a reality. If you are interested, please complete your application right away as the bill goes to the General Assembly in January.

To order your FIRST license plate:
1. Complete the application www.sparky384.com/first-va-license-plate-appl.pdf
2. Include $10 cash or check (payable to “Friends of Sparky”)
3. The cost for credit card payments is $10.27 (write credit card info on the application)
4. Mail application and payment to:
Friends of Sparky
P.O. Box 6495
Glen Allen, VA 23058

Great job, Sparky! This is one of those things that we keep mulling around, but getting to it is quite another thing.

For the sake of clarity, if we want a personalized plate do we make the check out for $20, or is the $10 for that collected at a later date once you receive approval for plate production?

The $20 is due upfront. 2106 attempted this a few years ago and ran into issues with the collection of the fees and the school system.

The check should be made out for $20. You can also scan the applications and send them to us if you don't want to mail them. Our e-mail is 384sparky@gmail.com. You would still have to mail in money or a check, unless you're paying by credit card.

Super excited for this but I haven't bought a car up here yet to title. Our currently car is titled in Kansas. I'll get an application mailed off as soon as we purchase a car for me.

One of the awesomest things I've seen, it might give me an excuse for a personalized license plate haha. But really this is awesome, and I'd love to see it in more states, like Cali.

In California, it takes 7500 paid applications and legislative support.

I cannot find any information about Kansas but a quick search turned up Missouri's requirements. (http://dor.mo.gov/motorv/plateprocess/)

Hopefully more states can begin the process so we can make FIRST loud! We still need at least 200 of the 450 applications by the end of January, if we want to make this a reality! So, Virginia teams please spread the word! If anyone else could help us advertise this further, it would be greatly appreciated. We're so excited for this project!!

We are still collecting registrations and the bill will go to the GA next year. Any help with publicizing the project, would be much appreciated!
