Rookie Coach Alert!

Checking to see if I understand this...

Bearings like these:

are legal by <R05>.L, which states:
"... In general, COTS are not permitted with the following exceptions: Bearings of any type and material. Including bushings, roller bearings, etc."

but a bearing mount like these (see Fig 4):
http://www.servocity.com/html/90o_hub_mount_c__545408_.html
http://www.servocity.com/assets/images/90o_hub_mount_C_with_bearing.jpg

are NOT legal because of rule <R04>.D, which states:
"Materials in the form of angle, channel, tubing, sheet, film, blocks, etc. are allowed but these same shapes with post machined features (holes, slots, etc.) are considered to be Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) and are constrained by Rule <R05>."

Do I have that right? If so, I need to fabricate a bearing mount from raw stock?

yeah, I think you have it right. If you have a question about any material or piece being legal, you should post a question to the robot section of the official FTC forum. Found here: http://ftcforum.usfirst.org/forum.php The ruling by the game council that are made on the FTC forum are final and official. it is a really good idea to check that forum because the game council will make clarifications on rules throughout the year on the forum.
