Hey everyone, so this might have been answered already, but I just wanted a clarification on the following rule on scoring:
Points are awarded once per CYCLE for BALLS SCORED by ROBOTS in the GOALS, BALLS SCORED by ROBOTS over the TRUSS, and for each ROBOT CATCH. Additional points are credited to an ALLIANCE upon each GOAL based on the number of ASSISTS earned by the ALLIANCE for that CYCLE.
Emphasis mine. So does this mean that if a team does not score in a goal, thus not completing a cycle, that they can't get any points for their assists/truss tosses/catches?

yes
I don't actually think you are correct. I think this needs to go through Q&A, but the wording could be interpreted as truss and catch counting right away.
yes
No.
I suggest reading the REST of 3.1.4 closely. I expect better clarification, perhaps in a future team update or Q&A, but the short version is that, for Assist points only, you are correct, you only get those if you score a goal. For Truss points, you get those as soon as the ball goes through the plane; Catch points are given upon a catch.

Full wording from the subsection in that rule from the manual accessed a few minutes ago (not sure if this was added, but how I interpreted it from the start. Emphasis mine
Rule 3.1.4
<snip>
"Points are awarded once per CYCLE for BALLS SCORED by ROBOTS in the GOALS, BALLS SCORED by ROBOTS over the TRUSS, and for each ROBOT CATCH and as each objective is achieved. Additional points are credited to an ALLIANCE upon each GOAL based on the number of ASSISTS earned by the ALLIANCE for that CYCLE."
</snip>
You only have the opportunity to get points for a truss throw, truss catch, and goal score (obviously) once per cycle. You get the points for each when the action is completed. Assists are awarded as bonus points when the cycle is completed (ball is scored in a goal). Assist points "earned" mid cycle when the timer expires do not add to your score, while a last second truss shot would.

This definitely sounds about right. The rule must have recently added the "as each objective is achieved" part as I don't think it was there the last time I checked it. Anyway I'm pretty sure that this confirms that you can score truss and catch points, but not assist points, without scoring a goal.
