I have a couple of students who did not uninstall last year's WindRiver installation before installing the new one. The result is that WindRiver came up saying the license is expiring in two weeks. Is there a way to "update" the license instead of uninstalling and reinstalling? This process takes hours and we are trying to avoid it.

No. Another horrible side effect of WindRiver, they make this impossible. The only benefit is that they also include software for quick uninstallation (windows menu, all programs, WindRiver, Product Maintenance - remove all products.) If I could make a recommendation, at your next meeting copy the contents of the disks onto multiple USB devices so that all your students can take either a usb stick or the Disc home and you could get all the uninstalls and installs done in one night.

I actually tried the use existing installation process, but it just skips to the end. it doesn't actually install anything. Not sure if that was a personal issue though.

It IS possible. On disk 1 there will be a file named similarly to "FRC_2013_WB30_WB33_install.txt"

Go to your installation directory, usually C:\WindRiver there will be a file called "install.txt"

Replace install.txt with the file on disk 1 of this season's KoP, and WR should recognize the new license. Make sure you also rename the new license to install.txt

Did it update your license though?
