Hello CD Members,

There is no information provided by VexPro on how to use encoders with their 3 CIM Dog Shifting Gearbox. Does anyone know how to use them with this gearbox? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

That's the BallShifter. I think OP is referring to the WCP West Coast Drive 3 CIM shifting transmission. In a traditional West Coast Drive, the encoder mounts to one of the live wheel axles instead of the transmission itself. I'm sure someone can provide pictures of this, but this is the general idea.

Andrew is correct, we recommend mounting the encoder directly to a wheel shaft.

The VersaChassis Shaft has a .251" hole in the back of the shaft for a US Digital S4 encoder, or any 1/4" shaft encoder. We typically simply insert the encoder shaft into the wheel, and zip tie the wires of the encoder to the bellypan. This is a much easier way to use an encoder, due to the packaging of the DOG shifter.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Where did you find vexpro assembly instructions? Do they have them for other parts/assemblies too that they sell?

Manuals are listed on each products page on VEXpro's (http://www.vexrobotics.com/)or WCP's (http://www.wcproducts.net/) site under the Specifications header. Most products have manuals listed, a few newer VEXpro and WCP products will have manuals listed shortly, we are working to get these out asap.
