2mm key way

My team was wondering how deep to cut a 2mm key way in a 8mm shaft?

Your depth of cut for a key way is always 1/2 the size of the key you are using.

So if you are using a 2mm square key then your depth of cut into the shaft(8mm) should be 1mm.
