This week's session will be Robot Inspection. If you have any questions on robot inspection please check in. We will discuss a few of the items you can expect during this process. Additionally, we will talk about some items teams have historically struggled with, notably bumper design and mounting. You can find the agenda here...

We will use Google hangouts as the hosting site and the link to watch the presentation is

Al,
For me, it leads me to a log-in page in the Microsoft Outlook Web App.

Yes, Al, I would like to know how you plan to guarantee that robots do not have parts which stick out past the 20 in. limit. Since robots don't have a common perimeter size, the measurements are chassis dependent for each robot, unlike years past when the robot and arms had to fit within a specified circle.

Looks like it is going to be more time consuming to do this part of the inspection this year!

Dr. Bob
Chairman's Award is not about building the robot. Every team builds a robot.

Our CAD team showed me a drawing the other day of our drive base and the imaginary 20" extension around it, I asked them to make sure we have a paper copy of that to show judges/inspectors. For teams with "oddly" shaped drive bases something like this may help you expedite inspection.

This will involve a lot of tape measure activity. As always, if you limit this motion in software and the software fails you, you risk the consequences of extending beyond the allowed limits. Please remember that this 20" dimension is measured from the Frame Perimeter not the bumpers. It is also a radius measurement at the corners. Please review G24 for the drawing and explanation that a violation is a technical foul.

Huh. And I was thinking Al would travel to each event, equipped with a battery-powered Sawzall and a 20" tape measure...

I mean, Retired Starman did ask for a guarantee.
