View Full Version : How to easily put riveting holes in a chassis assembly?
Hi guys, does anyone have an easy way to put riveting holes in a chassis in autodesk inventor 2014? I have the sheet metal assembly looking almost decent, but I cant figure out how to do these rivets without doing them manually in each part. Please help me.

Not completely sure of the task you need to complete. Let's assume it is creating holes on a face.
1. Create a new 2D Sketch on the face the holes are required.
2. Use the Point tool to place the centers of the rivet holes.
3. Add the necessary geometric and dimensional constraints.
4. Use the Hole tool. The points are automatically selected.
Let me know if you need more information.

You should always create the holes separately in each part file. I highly recommend AGAINST using any assembly level projected/converted sketch geometry, as these are highly prone to breaking references when you iterate and tweak/replace parts. I've lost more time over the years fixing broken references than doing it right the first time, so I hardly ever use projected/converted assembly geometry any more.
