View Full Version : Spring Return for Ball Shifter??
On our Andymark shifters we would place a compression spring on shifting shaft to be able to lock it into gear just in case we lost pneumatic pressure we would still be able to drive, can you do the same thing with the ball shifter??
Thanks, Ronnie.

It should be easy enough to do, but I don't think its necessary.
You should be able to slip a spring over the shifting linkage as long as it is strong enough and compresses enough to still lock it into gear.

I don't think so. To shift to the 'other' speed the shaft completely disappears into the cylinder. That is, the plastic 'coupler' needs to be flush aganst the cylinder face. No room for a spring.
But one CAN get spring-return cylinders....
