Hi all!

Team 3061 bought ourselves some WCP DS three cim gearboxes with the west coast mount system. We got them mostly together, but are running into some issues where the instructions don't cover with the front of the output shaft. We seem to have a lot of spacers that don't go anywhere, and two wave washers that are smaller than they should be, and two shaft clips that also don't fit anwyhere.

Anyone who's put these together (1675?) successfully care to lend a hand? Maybe some pictures?

The extra spacers are there as an option if you'd like to use them - you're not required to. I'm not sure about the wave washers, but I'm sure someone like Paul, Grant, RC, or Alec can comment on that.

I'm pretty sure this affected all WCP gearboxes, unless I'm overlooking something.

We personally didn't even use the wave washers because we didn't have a bearing on the front transmission plate of the gearboxes, because we had a bearing on the VersaBlock and didn't want to overconstrain the shaft.

So that's for wave washer.

As for spacers, Andrew is right - there's extras, and there's some that are missing. The spacing honestly isn't do-or-die. Just make some effort to space your gears out (even that isn't too big of a deal) and make sure they mesh well.

This is indeed the same setup we have - no bearing in the front plate, but in the versablock on the outside of the frame. The extra spacers have come in handy in other locations, and we BELIEVE that the extra C clips are just that - extra - we lost two within 30 minutes of opening the box :ahh:

There may be other parts that have to do with the 3rd CIM...but we're not actually using 3 CIMs in our 3 CIM gearboxes..

That's the one.

Good news: We put our gearboxes together! Thanks all for all the help.

Bad news: The output shaft is able to slide 1/2 inch in and out of the gearbox. Anybody know what may be causing this issue?

The output shaft should be retained in the axial direction by a snap ring on the input side of the motor plate (keeps the shaft from moving toward the output direction) and a 1/2" round to 5/8" hex shoulder with a dog gear in place right up against the output side of the motor plate (keeps the shaft from moving away from the output direction). Ours is assembled this way and the output shaft is properly retained.

Hrmm. Perhaps I'm a bit confused, but is the shoulder already in the shaft?

Arpan,

The bearing is held into the plate via 3 screws.
Then the shaft is inserted into the bearing and a 1/2" Snap Ring is added.
The snap ring holds the shaft fixed with relation to the bearing by trapping the DOG gear and Shim between the .625" HEX portion of the shaft and the snap ring itself.
