This was our first try at powder coating, done in house.

Looks amazing. I think the new VersaChassis has the potential to be the most gorgeous COTS frame kit when it's done right.

Thank you, that's the hope at least. It is shaping up nicely and with a little Luck it will be rolling or better yet driving by the end of this weekend!

Are your lights all going on the inside of your frame?

A word of caution: Some of those frame parts are only attached with one rivet on each bracket. I suspect that those will be able to rotate and the rivets will shake loose quickly.

Are you planning any kind of cross bracing for the frame? As a fun experiment, grab two opposite corners of the frame and push them together, then pull them apart. If you see a lot of movement, that's a sign that you'll likely need more support in those directions.

Yes, leds are inside the frame. And the brackets we knew about, just hadn't drilled the holes for more rivets as of the picture.

Are you guys bracketing from the bottom as well?

The chassis has lots more bracing and parts to come. There is minor deflection as is, but we planned for this and have additional bracing both down the length and width of the robot.

The LED light strips were wired into the frame rails pre riveting. Gives the chassis a nice glow both top and bottom.

The students made great progress this Saturday and got the robot rolling, with the electrical plate and parts mounted, hopefully will have some updated teaser shots by the end of Sunday when they finish wiring this unnamed beast.
