Is it legal to use a voltage regulator like this: http://www.pololu.com/product/2577 to regulate the input voltage to a HiTechnic Servo Controller?

Are you asking with regards to FTC or FRC?

Welcome to Chief Delphi!

In regards to FRC... I'm not sure why you'd need to use a 5VDC regulator, but...

(per R40)

Any active electrical item not explicitly listed in R29 or R67 is considered a CUSTOM CIRCUIT. CUSTOM CIRCUITS may not produce voltages exceeding 24V when referenced to the negative terminal of the battery.

If you are asking this in regards to FTC, I'd recommend posting this in the FTC forum (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=146). Just something to keep in mind in the future. You did nothing wrong.

I re-posted the question in the FTC forum.
