Team 1678 is proud to give a teaser of our 2014 robot:

We will be spending the next 5 days on driver practice, integrating our Hot Goal detection code, tweaking 3 ball auto routines, adding in 2 ball options, etc. That, and put the finishing touches on the competition robot :)

I'm incredibly proud of what the students on Team 1678 have accomplished this season. This is the result of a lot of hard work and commitment to meeting design objectives. Enjoy, share, and let us know what you think!

We are excited to see everyone at Inland Empire, Davis, and SVR!

Nice! I think the robot is out of constraints though, it seemed pretty big... and black

I'm counting 7 seconds on your shots. Should make for some interesting autonomous options once you have the hot detection wired in.

Hot + 3 Ball -> Shoot 3 -> Drive Forward
Cold + 3 Ball -> Wait -> Shoot 3

Cold + 2 Ball ??? (A couple options here...)

Programmers should have a lot of fun with this robot.

Wow. That's really impressive. I thought that we'd see 2 ball auto modes, but three? Before build season ends? You guys are good. I can't wait to see the real thing.

Congratulations Mike. It's truly amazing to see how far this team has come in four short years. You and your kids must be really proud of doing what many people in FIRST probably thought was impossible, and four days before ship too!

I'm predicting this will be one of the top bots in California this year. IE, Davis, SVR look out, we've got a new powerhouse in town!

You should be watching the Inland Empire regional webcast where they will be playing week 1

How long does it take to shoot all 3 balls?

How long does it take to shoot all 3 balls?

After the "robot enabled in 3...2...1" I counted about the full ten seconds.

Hardest part of our multi-ball autonomous is getting the ball settled in an appropriate amount of time. We easily got 1 in 3 seconds and should be able to tweak it to get 2 in 5 - if we can solve that problem :D.

It should be plausible to get all 3 into hot goals if lined up in the middle - just plan to get GOALIED at some point ;). Looks great so far, good luck this season!

There's actually a freshman sitting in the middle of the robot throwing the balls into the goal.

Stop spreading disinformation and lies, lol. We all know that the last robot we could fit a freshman into was Ramp Bot from 2007.

It was awesome doing a bunch of back to back practice matches with you guys and the Robodogs(2085) at the scrimmage! Seeing your autonomous in real life uncensored was super cool, and I got to get a close look at your bot before competition! The Robovikes are gonna be at Inland Empire and Sacramento, too. I hope our teams are able be allied on a qualification match, and possibly in eliminations. I'm gonna be pushing my drive team even harder this year. We wanna defend our 2013 Winner title at Sacramento. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

As you may know, 1678 has yet to run a 3 ball auto at an event. In it's former state, the 3 ball routine was inconsistent at best. The students have been working incredibly hard over the past month to improve our autonomous capabilities. Here is a preview of what we will be bringing to SVR and CMP, the 3 ball hot goal autonomous.
