Encoder Gear Slipping on VexPro Ball Shifter

We currently are using VexPro 2 CIM Ball Shifters on our robot and we're encountering the issue where the 36 tooth gear that attaches with "friction" (or should I say "not enough friction") when pressed into a flange/hole on the main drive shaft assembly (the same one that has the ball shifter) slips and causes our encoder not to turn.

What have people done to fix this? Putting glue in that area kinda scares me.

That is a common problem. Many teams affix the gear with superglue.

When did you purchase the gearboxes? Vex updated the line slightly this year to improve the encoder shaft and I'm fairly certain that they were sending the updated part to the teams that contacted them and asked for them.
