our Cypress is MIA, working on custom control panel. We got what we need working working with an HID look-a-like, but am thinking about doing a cypress lookalike with a Arduino (should be able to emulate, theoritically).
Has anyone looked at this yet?
I am aware of the estop CCI, and will go that route if necessary, but we have some programming bandwidth right now....

I made my own controller this year using an accelerometer and an Arduino. It's pretty cool. I used an MPU6050 3-axis accelerometer and an Arduino Uno. I also used an LCD screen to present the speed it sends out to Driver Station. There are some pics in the referenced thread.
Good luck!

got it working. Need an Arduino Leonardo, read http://www.imaginaryindustries.com/blog/?p=80 (it involves making a couple of changes to your Arduino development environment), and...
voila! my Arduino thinks it's a 8 axis 32 button joystick...
