Student on team #535, G-Force, from Huntington North High School and United Technologies Electronic Controls.
We have pretty much finished our robot and took it to our playing field for its first complete functional test. We are very pleased with the results as we can do almost everything we hoped for and more. The following is a list of our capabilities:
-Manipulate small balls
-Manipulate big balls
-Manipulate goals
-Manipulate ramp
-Manipulate stretcher
-Balance two goals on ramp w/robot
Our robot has a derrick-type telescoping tower with a pneumatic arm, hooks that grab the goals and stretcher, and a four wheel drive base with bobcat-like steering. We are working on cutting weight to add few extras. We are going to regional competitions in Grand Rapids and Chicago and the Nationals in Orlando. Hopefully we will have pictures up on our website by tomorrow (Wednesday).
