Hello!

As the outreach guy for team 5102, I would like to present a project we've been working on. We own an Oculus Rift and we used it with out robot, "Clifford".

A video was taken with two GoPros side-by-side and was rendered out to a stereoscopic video for viewing in 3D on an Oculus Rift. This was on display in our pit at the Central Valley Regional. I'll include a picture of someone using the Rift, also.

Anyone going to the LA regional will be able to check it out, and hopefully by then we will have more of a panoramic video, rather than a 3D video. If we get the panoramic video, you will be able to move your head and look around the video.

Anyways, here's the video:

And here's the pic of someone using it, as well as the 3D printed mount:

This is really cool. I don't have a rift so I can't see it in real rift view, but I used the cross eyes technique to watch and I was impressed. Sadly this year my teams robot cant have a good dedicated spot for go pros. I still have my DSLRs, but go pros have that really cool perspective.

Will you guys be doing more of these?

Sorry, but I was totally distracted watching our bot score a hot goal and then later putting it in the low goal.:yikes:

Great match to record!!

Yeah, we plan on doing more at Long Beach, but we hope to have a panoramic video where you can look around instead of a fixed perspective in 3D.
