Brake/Coast Jumper

Just a quick question..

On the Victor Speed Controllers, there are three pins for the Brake/Coast settings. Am I correct in saying that having the jumper connect to pins A and B will brake the motor and pins B and C will coast the motor?

I would test this myself on our robot, but all our motors are down in the machine shop getting modifications.

We haven't tried the brake at all, but there is a motor that we certainly could benefit from the use of it. I have a question about it though. If what it does is basically short the terminals, will it drain the battery?

It only shorts the output to the motors and doesn't
affect the input from the battery. You can easily see
this
effect on the fisher price motors, if you have a free
one.

First try turning the output shaft when the motor is
disconnected. It should be possible to backdrive the
motor. If you then get someone to connect the two wires
coming from the motor, you will find that is MUCH
harder to turn the output shaft.
