Hi! I'm the team mom for 1138 and are attending the Colorado regional coming from California. I know there is the option to pre-order lunches, but are there any other options for lunch for our team on campus, or in the arena? Any good restaurants for dinners outside the venue you suggest? Thank you!

On behalf of 3729, I would like to welcome you to the Colorado Regional! In past years, we have always walked to the many neighboring restaurants for lunch. Off the top of my head, I can remember Chipotle, Jimmy Johns, and Mustard's Last Stand, but, as it is at a college, there are a bunch more in the area. There is also a food stand, with very expensive food, in the stadium.
We look forward to seeing you next weekend!

I am a team mom for The Highlanders, #4499...Our team went to California for our first regional, so I know the trip you are about to take and its a long one! I would suggest you pre-order something. There are places near by to walk to, but they can be crowded and slow. There is a Subway and Qdboa near by. Or, I would like to extend another option....I have a team mom who organizes our team lunches/dinners, would you like to join us in our plans? Send me your email and we can touch base. Usually, she plans things like a sandwich bar or soft tacos and we eat just outside of the arena. And, our team can get to know your team!

My advice is to not eat at the concession stand because everything thing is over priced. There are plenty of options to eat nearby. If you would tell me what kind of place you are looking for I can find something that suit your needs. Also there is the team social that has pizza.

Thank you for all your replies! I appreciate it! We are looking forward to the trip! Debbie, I'll email you. Thanks for the offer! Our team always likes getting to know other teams!
There are about 20 restaurants within a 5 minute walk, ranging from fast casual to interesting sit-down. The Friday night party is actually lots of fun, with about +-500 students showing up to dance, play games, and hang out together. There are several teams, including 2240, 1410, and my team 1339 that are within a 15 minute drive of the venue, so stop by our pit areas and we will be glad to help with anything you need, including hardware and supply runs. We can also guide you to the free parking if you will PM me.
The event center is moderately active in the "no outside food" issue. I'd recommend not trying to bring a meal in to your team, but you might get away with a small bag of snacks and drinks.
There will be a new arrangement for the pits this year, since there are so many teams coming. We will apparently have an entire gymnasium for our pit area, along with a full practice field (luxury!). It has always been a very good venue for a well-run regional, so look forward to making new friends and having a good time.

In the past, for lunch anyway, we have always had a few team members pick up previously ordered food. We then broke for lunch and ate by the main entrance to the stadium. They have definitely enforced the "no outside food" rule in the past.

Thanks for the feedback! We are flying in, so I'm sure we don't have all the tools we usually lug with us to local competitions. Thank you 1339 for offering to help if we need it! You have no idea how much of a relief that is when we are far from home! Thanks!

You're very welcome. Send me a PM if you get a chance with a list of tools you think you will need. If we have it, I will let you know, and we will bring it to the event for you.

Getting really close to competition time.
I believe for CO the wildcard possibilities are:
2996 (Winner, CM Utah)
3562 (EI Central Valley)
4499 (EI Inland Empire)

Team 649 is also excited to make the trip up from California and meet some new teams. We haven't played outside of California since 2011, so this will be a new experience for us and a lot of fun.

I think that 4944 (Rookie All-Star Utah) also generates a wildcard.

Just wanted to note the venue and the way its physical layout out was fantastic. It reminds of Kansas City was before we moved venues this year. Colorado is now my current favorite layout for a regional that I have attended.

We agree! That event was great from having the full practice field, entire staff, judges, volunteers and all of the teams were extremely nice! Thank you for feeding us lunch everyday 4499! We really appreciate it! We plan on attending again next year. Looking forward to seeing everyone in St. Louis!

I definitely agree. There was plenty of seating, the stands were well lit, and the kids sure seemed to enjoy the dancing area near the field without blocking the view of any spectators that wanted to remain in their seats. Plus, it wasn't too hard to find a quiet spot when necessary.

3403 has video of all matches from Friday and Saturday, except one. The one we are missing is match 41, but I believe 1619 Up-A-Creek has that one recorded since they were playing in it ;) We have been doing some major computer cleanup in anticipation of getting it all processed and posted- hopefully in the next few days.

I've passed the word along that video processing should start with the elimination rounds by request. We should be able to get started with it this evening.

Agreed that the Colorado regional was excellent this year - kudos to everyone involved! That was an extremely enjoyable regional for our entire team. Much thanks to our alliance partners 2945 and 4499 - you guys were great to work with and we were very glad to have you on board. Shout out to team 4928, The Arabian Knights, who we were lucky enough to have next to us in the pits - it was great to be able to hang out with you guys and we hope you'll be back in Colorado next year. Looking forward to seeing all the qualifying teams again in St Louis! :D

Great job to all the teams that competed this past weekend. You guys made a California team feel right at home (except the snow part).
Congratulations to all the teams moving on to championships and good luck!

4944...you guys were great! We had a great time, wish we could have won the quarter final though.
I have been trying to get in touch with your team. Wanted to see what we could do to help get funding for your team to go to worlds. I sent your coach an email this morning, I have a few ideas. Contact me at Debbie@highlandersfrc.com

You are welcome. Mark got 6 videos up tonight. It will take us longer using the higher resolution to get them all up, but I think it will be worth it.

To the awesome and incredible teams and volunteers of the Colorado Regional:
For the second year in row CRUSH 1011 had a blast at the Colorado Regional! The regional continues to be one of the most inspiring and friendly we have ever been to. The teams are always so welcoming and we look forward to attending in the future. We'd like to thank 2972-RC Dawon and 3200-Raptacon for an awesome eliminations experience! Huge congratulations to the winning alliance 1138, 3310, 2543 on an well deserved regional win, it was a honor playing against you in the semi-finals. Chairmans winners, 3562-LiveWire, you guys are so inspiring! Last but not least, another huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped put the event on, you were amazing!
We cant wait to see some of you guys again at the Championship event in a few weeks!

First off I'd like to thank our wonderful alliance partners 3310 and 2543, you guys had great bots and we worked really well as a team. Also, it was lots of fun hanging out with 2543 cheering section during eliminations.
Secondly I'd like to thank 4499 for helping us out by providing lunch, for lending us extra batteries for eliminations, cheering us on, and probably for helping us out with plenty of other things that I don't even know about.
I'd also like to thank team 1011 for presenting us with the "Best Carpet" award, and being awesome pit neighbors. I spoke with one of you guys regarding collaborating on some drive-system development. After giving it some thought it has become very apparent to me that the improvements you proposed would be a valuable addition to our future bots, and I look forwards to working with you to implement it.
I look forwards to seeing all of you again in St Louis.
Finally I'd like to echo the thoughts that the venue was great. Having a full practice field was huge for us, we spent every possible minute on there.
Overall Colorado was tons of fun for us, and we look forwards to coming back next year.
I was looking at Ether's cumulative twitter data (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/3000), and I have to give a shout out to 1619, Up-A-Creek, and the great robot they put out this year; it's too bad they won't get to represent Colorado at the World Championship. 1619 had some very impressive stats this year. While I'm sure they would trade qualification stats for banners, they are still amazing:
22-1 in quals
26th in the world for max OPR
20th in the world for average OPR unpenalized*
8th in the world for average CCWM unpenalized*
That last stat ranks them higher than a who's who of powerhouse teams including this year's favorite, The Cheesy Poofs.
*without counting foul points, i.e. only points you earned from auto/assists/truss/catch/goals

Have to agree, one of the best run regionals. I would also like to give a shout out to 1619, if not for a few tough breaks, who knows. Great robot, great job this year. Shout out to all the teams going to St. Louis good luck and have fun.

I nominated 1619 on the who should going to be champs but is not thread. It is great to see some numbers backing that up. I was amazed the #1 seed didn't pick them in alliance selections to be honest, but turns out they knew what they were doing and won the regional.
Thank you for the kind words from other teams. Our team had been hoping to come away with our first blue banner this year, but we were overall happy with how the season turned out. It was a lot of fun getting to go to two regional competitions for the first time this, and it was the teams we competed both with and against that made it special.
Broncobots and Project Y did an excellent job in the eliminations with us in Colorado, keeping it fun by coming up with different moves on the spot for when they introduced us by team. Eagle Robotics and NASKCO Robotics from Utah were also a blast to team up with, and I still have joystick envy from the fancy controller that NASKCO's drive team used. Angelbots, Team 1339, also deserves huge recognition in the professional manner that they handled the damage to their robot. They rebuilt between competitions and came back with not only an awesome machine, but also a drive team that I look forward to having milkshakes with soon. Overall we enjoyed both competitions thoroughly and are looking forward to next year. We wish the best of luck to all in Championships and beyond.
