On the User Control Panel Page Edit Signature is the first link under Setting and Options.

It should be accessible through the "User CP" link

Anyone know what the limit is (of posts?)

I wasn't aware of any limit but when I made my sig I was well on my way to about 10,000 posts by then.

I know new users can't use signatures, but I don't know what the post limit is.
Possibly 50.
A user reported (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1149443&postcount=7) that they gained the ability when they surpassed 100 posts.

Here's what the option will look like when you finally earn it:

A student on my team recently made an account and the "edit signature" is not listed anywhere under "Settings and Options". It is there for me so I am not sure why it is not there for him. Any ideas?

EDIT: @March really? I don't remember that being the case back when I made mine, but that was a while ago. Does anyone have an idea of how many posts it takes?

From FAQ:

After you have registered, you may set your signature. This is a piece of text that you would like to be inserted at the end of all your posts, a little like having headed note paper.

If the administrator has enabled signatures, then you will have the option to include your signature on any posts you make. If you have specified a signature, then the forum will automatically append your signature to any messages you post. You can disable signatures on a per-post basis by un-ticking the 'Show Signature' checkbox when you compose your message.

You may turn the signature on and off on posts you have already made by editing the post and altering the state of the 'Show Signature' option.

You can set your signature by editing your profile.

Looks like it is 100 posts or 3 months or some combination thereof:

-NickThe minimum post limit was added because a while back there was a ton of spam where they would post messages like "haha :D" or "ok, yeah I agree" and then after a few days edit their signature to include spam.

I'm pretty sure the minimum limit is between 30 and 50 100 (see message above) posts and must be a member for two months. Brandon would know for sure.

If it is 100 post limit, then I shouldn't have a signature.

When (date, # posts) were you able to add a signature or when did you first do it?

Kevin Phan

Around 50 post and I did this signature, if memory serves me right, in the last two weeks.

Me either. I believe, for me, it was more time based.

I have had the account for awhile but hardy posted much. This year by far I have posted most of my count shown.

Though I did have a signature by my 3rd post. Yeah lots of looking but for the first year I didn't feel I ought to post until I was more seasoned.

I thought mine was fairly early on - but I have been wrong many times before.

Not sure, I tried to check out the FAQ and it said that I should be able to use it as soon as I made my account, but that's not true. Either way, I joined in Feb this year. So who know's how long I have to wait. I'm not a student either. :)

I've had the same problem as Kelly180 in that I can't edit nor create a signature. It must be a post criteria or something.

If y'all joined in February, then according to Art and Mark (see their posts above) you oughtta be able to edit your signatures in something like one to one and a half months at the outside--April or May.

You can also gain access to a signature by getting reputation points from other people. I noticed that when a couple people from my team got an account this year.

I have under 100 posts and average under .2 posts a day so those 2 metrics are out. I could see reputation having an impact as it does say having a good reputation will result in rewards.

This is about my fifth post and I made my signature yesterday, but I do have a reputation so I am going to say that's probably the key.

Edit: Never mind, it appears Kelly also has one. It's neither post number nor reputation.

Those who have signatures but low post counts have been members for more than two months, so it seems like time might be the answer for them.

I thought it was 47 posts and/or 47 days with an account. Because 47 seemed an odd choice at the time. What a bizarre number to arbitrarily choose.
I wonder if the number 47 has some sort of meaning to the webmaster.

Try it again in two days time.
You registered two days after Kelly did.

But when I do that, it doesn't scroll up when the other signatures do :D

If you are talking about replying ... well you know how to do that ;)

If you are talking about starting a new thread then look at the top orange bar. If it has forum then click on that, if it has portal then click on portal then forum. Then click on the forum you wish to start a thread in and click on new thread on the orange bar.

I have been a member for over two months and still can't get a signature.

I think there is a minimum number of posts.

Edit: I just hit 10 posts and I now have the option.
