This is a going to be a tough field of competition, especially for a team who is making their debut on the national stage. I'm excited to see Team 20 again; last time I saw them, they completely blew away the competition in the 2012 Connecticut Regional.

Good year for you to make your CMP debut; you guys have a very nice robot this year. Looking forward to seeing you guys and some of our other NE buddies here on Archimedes.

And yeah, team 20 will be great to see and their 2012/2013 CT regional partner 195 also here.
These guys are really great; was really intense playing with them (and losing to them :P) in the finals in 2012/2013

And similar things can be said for so many of the other teams here.

This ought to be one heck of a competition. Some of the alliances capable of being formed here are downright scary. A lot of good power forward types. I'm pumped up.
I've been thinking about alliance composition and strategy since I saw the division list and it's driving me nuts. Why can't next week come a little faster :D.

Yes. Hello! I am a senior on 4911 the CyberKnights. We are a rookie team to FRC this year. Our school mascot is the Knight so it seemed only natural to pick the name CyberKnights. It wasn't until about halfway through the season that we realized team 195 had the same name, except for their's has a space in between the two words (in the FRC Spyder App).

I am so PUMPED for worlds! Good luck everyone!

Shouldn't the defensive column be green when low and red when high because a low DPR indicates good defensive performance?

Which OPRs did you use here?

Max OPR.

Assist, Teleop, etc. points calculated by summing the assist, teleop, etc. OPRs of the 3 robots they play with for each match they play in.

The sub-OPRs for each team is from the regional the team scored their highest overall OPR at.

Check it out ......

BTW, Our Bayou performance was much better than our Crossroads performance. We played a lot of "D" at Crossroads because we got pretty good at it and our shooter needed some work. At Bayou, We added shooter improvements and some "O" to our game. I'm looking forward to proving that we're better than what our OPR indicates.

Has anyone completed a picture book yet? I find it surprising that many teams do not have a picture of their robot on webpage, facebook, or CD. We are having to go to match videos and doing screen captures.

Could every team or if you have scouted a team before go to the pre-champ scouting google doc and fill it in for teams? Anything we can do before getting to the event would be time saved.

Thanks so much for the list. I just went through and added text team numbers for each picture, for the dual reasons of the team numbers being obscured in some pics and the ability to cmd/ctrl-f and quickly locate a specific team. All I ask in return is that 2485 be one font size larger ;) a little free promo never hurt anyone.

I was just looking at our match schedule on the Google Docs pre-scouting spreadsheet and saw that our schedule difficulty was -39. I knew it was a tough schedule, but as I scrolled around, I saw that it was indeed The Toughest schedule on Archimedes.

After having a ridiculously tough schedule on Curie last year, I have to say that it is a bit frustrating. We don't mind being the underdog sometimes, it can be a motivating force. However, in a game that is so reliant on alliance partners, it can be a bit demoralizing.

I'm hoping that the flaws in using OPR to predict match outcomes are big enough to give us room to give us a fighting chance. Otherwise, we are just going to play our best, help our alliance partners as much as we can and hope for scouting magic.

That is why I don't like this year's game. The outcome of the match depends too much on your partners.
Don't worry what the OPR predicts in terms of wins and losses. I would not completely ignore it like somebody else says. Teams that went to multiple events and have a high OPR at every event got that for a reason. It is not by luck. If the prediction is 200 to 100 against you, chances are it is 99% (I just picked a random number, not based on statistics) certain that you will lose. In that case you should try something drastic because you have nothing to lose. There is also a small chance that one of your opponents robot malfunction, so never give up. On the other hand, if many of the predicted matches that you will lose is only by less than 30 points, it is a 50/50 chance you may win. Most people that does prediction use max OPR. It does not tell the whole story. You should also use last OPR and world OPR to predict to see if it is any different. Data is never ugly. It is only how you use it that can be.

I can attest to this as well. Predictions by OPR were 91% accurate on Saturday at MSC and around an 82% accuracy overall in any regional/district. Close matches are a toss up. But I'd say above a 50 point differential and you will have to come up with a pretty crazy strategy...

Match 155 - 20,900,1939. If 20 and 900 can incorporate 1939 well then they very possibly could run 41 point cycles in under 15 seconds. Think secret sauce to the HP then HP passes to 20 in front of the goal. That has the possibility to be one of the greatest matches this year.

After a scary morning teams 3467 and 4925 are more excited to be on Archimedes this weekend. 12 hours before our bus was leaving New Hampshire we were told our bus had broken down with no replacements available!

Thankfully we snuck 4925 on the remaining seats on 811 and 319s bus and 3467 was able to rent some vans at the last second and 133 and 58 were able to take our equipment at the last second.

Phew what a weekend and I cant wait to compete!

We may need to borrow a driver station laptop to run some practice matches as our main team will be arriving tomorrow evening.

I certainly appreciate the effort and I know that the FIRST community as a whole certainly will after the Championship, if not during the event!

Sadly we had to leave and missed the last maybe 10 matches or so today, every other one should be recorded and in process of being uploaded... I know they are limited a lot by the rather slow internet of our hotel.

We also have go-pro footage of every match with our robot, and will upload those probably, but those are a bit more for the fun of it.

As for tedious and such, I will wait on our recorders and such to respond to that... I just drive the robot haha.

We're in the same boat - 0 of 9 but having a blast! As rookies, we're thrilled to have the chance to compete here and to expose our younger players to the greatest teams FRC has to offer. Good luck with your final match tomorrow! :)

And this is what FIRST is about, getting kids hooked on STEM and inspired to be like the best.

Here is a link:

It was the highest unpenalized alliance score (370 of the 390), the highest unpenalized total score (626 for both alliances combined), and the highest total score for matches where penalties were included (646). I'm not sure, but I suspect that 256 was the highest unpenalized losing score of the season, too. QF 1-3 was the second highest total score at 575. Those were some exciting matches.

Here is a shout out to team 27 RUSH: Congratulations on winning the Chairmen’s Award!

We know and have seen you work for years toward this and it’s great that all now recognize the tremendous program you have run for years. Great job & welcome to the HoF.

With this said, this is also a BIG THANK YOU for choosing us as your fourth alliance robot. You, along with team 33 Killer Bees and team 334 TechKnights, absolutely made our season. It was particularly fun since we were the only “Yellow Alliance” I remember ever seeing. It was also exciting sitting with all you folks because you enthusiasm is contagious.

We look forward to an opportunity to work again in the future. Hopefully we see you soon once inter-district play is allowed, and, there is always Championship!
(To Killer Bees, I am leaving my antennas on for the CT State Championship on May 17th, just for fun!)

Can someone explain what happened with the score in the quarterfinal match with 2137, 548, 2067, 1477, 2590, 1625?

Can someone explain what happened with the score in the quarterfinal match with 2137, 548, 2067, 1477, 2590, 1625?

In the Game Manual Section 5.4.4 says:
In the Elimination MATCHES, Teams do not earn Qualification Points; they earn a Win, Loss or Tie. Within each series of the Elimination MATCH bracket, the first ALLIANCE to win two (2) MATCHES will advance.

In the case where the MATCH score of each ALLIANCE is equal, the tie is broken by awarding an extra point to the ALLIANCE with (in the following order):

highest number of FOUL points awarded (i.e. the ALLIANCE that played the cleaner MATCH)
if FOUL points are equal, highest number of ASSIST points
if ASSIST points are equal, highest number of AUTO points
if AUTO points are equal, highest sum of TRUSS and CATCH points

If the criteria above are equal, the MATCH is a Tie. Additional matches will be played if needed.

The score was 231-231 at the end of the match. So the refs looked at who played the "cleaner" match. There was a technical foul on the opposing alliance and the win was subsequently awarded to the 2590-1625-1477-3467 alliance.

Qurt 1-1,2,3 Were the best matches I have seen all season! For me they were even more exhilerating to watch than Einstien!
Congrats to the 8th seed on there win over us, you definitly deserved it, that strategy was AMAZING. Very well played you guys!

All I can say about this division is wow. A lot of people were saying before champs that Archimedes looked a lot weaker then the others but the elims in Archimedes were easily the closest and most exciting elims that i have ever watched in my first career. I felt that every one of the 8 alliances had a chance at winning the division. Congrats to all the award winners especially 27 on their chairman's win, hope you guys come back to duluth it was really fun competing with you. Also congrats to 2158 on your EI. Finally thanks to 399 and 2056 for inviting us to join your alliance, and congrats to 1625, 2590, 1477, and 3567 on their division win.

If you consider high losing scores to be an indication of tough matches, consider this:

Of the 9785 matches that were played in 2014, the six highest "unpenalized" losing scores occurred during eliminations on Archimedes:

265: SF 1-1, 1477/2590/1625 to 51/2485/1918 (Raw score 285 to 315)
260: QF 1-3, 399/2056/2175 to 51/2485/1918 (Raw score 260 to 315)
256: QF 1-1, 399/2056/2175 to 51/2485/1918 (Raw score 256 to 390)
253: SF 1-1, 27/33/175 to 1477/2590/1625 (Raw score 273 to 285)
251: SF 1-3, 51/2485/1918 to 1477/2590/1625 to (Raw score 251 to 285)
245: SF 1-2, 51/2485/1918 to 1477/2590/1625 to (Raw score 245 to 265)

(Data derived from a spreadsheet that "Ether" posted in the "High Score 2014" thread showing match data for all competitions all season long. In F-1 at Waterford District, 1718/3098/3773 also put up 245 in their loss to 67/51/4994, so 51 was in 6 of the top 7)

Seriously, though. I think this was my favorite alliance at the championship. Watching the 1st seed get upset with the world highscore was a sight to see.

I just wanna give a special shout out to 3467 Windham Windup for being a super awesome 4th bot to pick up. Although their robot never touched the carpet throughout elims and on Einstein, they were one of the best pit crews I've personally ever had the opportunity to work with! They were ready and willing to help contribute to the alliance in any way possible. They were an essential key to success for the 5th seeded alliance, and I want to extend my personal thanks to them as well as 2590 and 1477 for a great weekend!

Wow - what a great event. Everyone on our team had a great time and our students came away with an increased passion for FIRST. Inspiration ran amok which is probably the best indicator of a great event.

A huge thanks to 2485, 1918, and 781 for being such great alliance partners. Those matches were a lot of fun. We couldn't ask for better partners, and they were an even better group of people to work with.

I'm sorry we never got 781 in a match, but those guys did a lot to help contribute. They help a lot with keeping strategy on track, and they were great with putting an extra coach in the box - that was very valuable.

Congratulations to the Archimedes winners. Getting knocked out is always a little easier if you get knocked out by the champs, and you guys were very worthy champs.

Hopefully we'll be able to see everyone at IRI.

Unfortunately after losing early in Curie quarterfinals, I had a chance to walk over to Archimedes to catch their semifinals and finals matches. Those matches truly exemplify how this game should be played and they were definitely played at the highest levels! ..absolutely incredible scores as well..

I was totally baffled that 3467 took so long to get picked. They had 5 2014 medals going into worlds. 2x EI, Chairman's, and 2 district wins as #1 pick and #3 captain. Was very happy to see them add a 6th medal and fourth banner to their 2014 pile.

I'd like to thank all of the Archimedes teams for their outstanding cooperation during the compressed inspection process at CMP. As you know, we were able to resolve all 100 robots before match play began on Thursday morning. I appreciate the positive attitude and understanding of the very few that had to make some changes. My hope for future years is that inspection will be a positive experience for everyone. I’m proud of each and every one of you and I hope I’ll be given the opportunity to serve at future events.

Thank you Seth! While our robot may have never touched the field being able to play with three amazing teams was worth the experience! I told our guys that our main goal as a team was to keep those three robots on the field and it was great to see our guys offering assistance wherever possible. After a whirlwind of a week with travel problems playing with three powerhouse teams, making it to Einstein, and adding medal #6 to our 2014 season was awesome! We didn't have the best run in qualifications with our share of bad matches and our robot didn't start off on good foot Thursday but thank you to 2590, 1625, & 1477 for inviting us to join your alliance we hope we can play with you all in the future!

Hey, does anyone know where we can find some qualification matches for Archimedes? Warren Robotics posted a few videos but it has a lot of missing matches that 781 wants for stuff like IRI applications.

I can contact the person who did the recordings during school tomorrow for you... He told us he was in the process of uploading videos. Yet, due to the lack of videos actually being uploaded I'm not so sure on that one haha.

Any QM's you are looking for specifically? I can try to get him to prioritize ones for you.

That would be awesome, thanks! We really wanted to see quals match 43, 54, 74, 93, 104, 119, 149 and 160 (all of the ones we played), but if it's really tight for time, then 43, 119 and 160 are the three we want to see the most.

I'd also love to see 43. Got to win against 2056, and it was our highest scoring match. Well, that might be because the other alliance had a dead robot, if I remember correctly.

Just sent him a message, so as soon as I know regarding the videos I will update both of you as well.

Yeah, 2056 is always nice to beat... We were on the other end, winning a 2v3 with them (Being the 2) due to our third having a technical problem if I remember correctly.

We did have a dead robot (forgot which team number it was). It was unfortunate. Still, 190 points was cool to put up with only 2 robots functional!

Hi everyone- I know this thread is a little old, but I wanted to mention that I'm currently in the process of uploading all the Archimedes Qualifications matches to the Team 20 Scouting Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWRGnwHs5b1jPVGhpjsoLKQ

I currently have Qualifications matches 1-55 uploaded and I should be finishing up to match 70 today. I've also been putting them into the TBA spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApRO2Yzh2z01dExFZEdieV9WdTJsZ25HSWI3VUxsW Gc&usp=sharing) as I upload them, but if I miss any, let me know.

We are also missing match 151 for some reason, so if anyone has that match, they should upload it and post it to TBA.

Sorry it took so long to get these up, but I had to get them from our head scouts and then there was discussion as to whether we should upload them to our public channel or our scouting channel. We decided not to clutter up our public channel anymore.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Matches posted up to match 90.
