Although the Ninjineers are not going to St. Louis this year, some of our members still wanted to participate! So I created the Fantasy FRC League. I know there are other Fantasy FIRST competitions, but this is simple and easy for anyone to participate!
Here's how it works:
First we have a serpentine draft. In the draft, each person picks only 4 teams (one from each division). Then based on their performances, you earn points. The point values are as follows:
Ranking Bonus
Subtract the teams ranking from 101
Ex- Team 000 ranks 5th, so subtract 5 from 101 and get 96, so you get 96 points
Alliance Selections
All teams on the alliance receive the same point value for this portion-
Take 9 and subtract it by the alliance ranking and then, multiply by 5
Ex- Teams on alliance 3 all gain 30 points. 9-3=6, so multiply 6 by 5 and get 30 points
Elimination Rounds
Passing QuarterFinals gains you 15 points
Passing SemiFinals gains you 30 points which adds onto the 15 points
Passing Finals gains you 60 points which is added onto the 45 from the QF and SF
Einstein
Passing SemiFinals gains you 60
Winning Finals, Just go celebrate, you won (120 points added to the SF)
Let us know what you think!!!! We were planning on just doing this within our team, but maybe we can do a group thing with all of you, too. Thanks!

Aren't qualifiers and ranking giving points for the same thing?
Giving higher seeded alliances more points doesn't make a lot of sense for this game. I expect at least 1 division to be won from seeds 4-8.

Good point, I am probably going to remove the qualifiers since rankings take into account all the tie breakers.
If a division is won by division alliance 4-8, they will gain 105 points from winning the division, and first alliance deserves points for achieving it, if they lose in eliminations... well the team that beats them get more points in the elimination portion.

I'm down with it. I was going to do SLFF, but because of time constraints, I had to drop before the season started.
I'm down with it. More FF doesn't hurt.

I would suggests making a Google doc form, just to keep everything organzined while people submit their teams.

I thought you were busy scoring the Season Long League so we could do the Championship drafts starting tomorrow.

Hey guys!
I'm helping Damian out with FFRC, so I made a scoring sheet. We'll make one of these for everyone and fill them out live throughout the day next Saturday. Check it out here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eNZ9y8JSwSX_5HTxG0Km75iIoibPpIPf6PnajQW4HDE/edit#gid=0).
We are still working out how the draft will work (open to suggestions!), but we'll let you know soon!

Id definitely be interested, sounds cool.
Definitely down for this. I posted my potential picks over on /r/frc if we're just picking whatever teams we want, otherwise, I'm fine with a draft situation if that's the plan.

Here is the submission sheet (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Qj4kMVbIm1kOyPOZlKmDt53S5rFL9PDvqlcms75WQ98/viewform?usp=send_form) for FFRC picks. There will be no draft, So pick who ever you would like! We will compile your pick data and send you back your score.

Thank you participating in the first Fantasy FRC (FFRC). This weekend's Championship event certainly had a lot of excitement, and led to some extremely high scores in our competition.
Congratulations to Jackson T. from team 1519 and Jeremy V. from team 1023 on both winning first place. See all the official results here (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eNZ9y8JSwSX_5HTxG0Km75iIoibPpIPf6PnajQW4HDE/edit#gid=1480541548).
Thanks again for participating. We had an internal competition among our team with a live draft and live rankings. Unfortunately we could not expand this to the public yet, but we are planning on growing the FFRC under a new name soon. We'll be releasing our spreadsheets from our internal competition on Chief Delphi today or tomorrow, and expanding the game throughout the offseason.

Same here. One thing I especially liked was that it was so quick and easy to be a part of. :)
EDIT: If you plan to expand this to do one for each regional, I think 3 teams per regional would be a good amount, and maybe 3 for each division at championship.

I suggest looking at the Season Long Fantasy FIRST league. Signups start after IRI, drafting starts sometime around November, all drafts except for district and world championship events end by Kickoff.
And there will be two next year: one with 3-team drafts per event, one with 1-team drafts every week.

Thank you!! We're glad you had fun, and that it was easy to do. Within our team, we had a shared spreadsheet with live rankings and it was so much fun to watch the positions change throughout the day.

Is the 1-team weekly draft new to Fantasy FIRST next year?
Is the 1-team weekly draft new to Fantasy FIRST next year?
Yes. It's a result of the 3-team-per-event draft becoming too cumbersome. The idea is that every week, right before the events start, every player makes one pick--and you better NOT miss your spot. I think the nickname chosen is "survival".
OTOH, the 3-team-per-event style is going to be making some changes--more automation, using block drafts for some areas to cut out about half of the drafts--and hopefully be a bit more streamlined.
The reason for those changes: We started drafting in mid-November, took only 3 days off, and ran 2 drafts a night, and still missed ending by Kickoff because some drafts didn't happen on time--and burnout was kicking in. So one of the leads will be doing the "survival" league, and another is stepping up to lead the current system with its changes.
