View Full Version : 2014 Division Pit Maps
I figured these would be useful to some:
Archimedes (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/ARCHIMEDES-pits.pdf)
Curie (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/CURIE-pits.pdf)
Galileo (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/GALILEO-pits.pdf)
Newton (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/NEWTON-pits.pdf)
P.S. Anyone know why they're called the 'Vulcan Practice Field' on the Curie map (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/CURIE-pits.pdf) and the 'CIA Practice Field' on the Galileo map (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/GALILEO-pits.pdf)?
EDTI: Chris clarifies that they're sponsors a few posts down. Thanks Chris! :)
P.S.S. I also just noticed that the robot pathway is called 'Flowers Lane' on the Galileo map (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Events/2014/GALILEO-pits.pdf).
Is there a full venue map with labeled divisions anywhere? The best I could find was this. (http://championship.usfirst.org/FIRST-championship/map)

I remember seeing somewhere that Vulcan and the CIA are sponsors, and apparently they got fields named after themselves.

I hope we get a better, more complete map before load in. I can't understate the relative uselessness of these in figuring out the best door to enter.

I'm guessing those are the sponsors of the practice fields..

So I photoshopped the pit layouts together based on overlapping features. Sadly, Newton had absolutely nothing around it on the small PDF file, so it's impossible to tell where it is in relation to everything else. Hope it helps.

Based on where I think all of these are, I'd guess that Newton is to the immediate left of Galileo...they would share the CIA practice field.

That's what I was thinking too, which would make it a bit different from last year's setup.

Looking at the map from last year (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14708&d=1366812834), it appears that is almost certainly the case. Archimedes is now next to the tunnel instead of at the other end of the hall, and newton now sits in the space that was occupied by the some FTC pits.
Still, I hope we can get something before Wednesday that doesn't have to be stitched together like we're on a network television crime procedural.
What exactly is 71 doing in the upper right corner of Galileo? They aren't in with the rest of the pits and have a space bigger than everyone else. Given the pit layout, they would be in a back corner of the convention center, not readily accessible to guests the way the Hall of Fame area is.
Edit: Maybe it was just wishful thinking and I was hoping to see the Beast again.

That's not a pit, that just a box with a number in it, you can see a similar box "58A" towards the bottom of the Galileo page.

So I figured it out. I have added in Newton to the left of the rest, and overlayed it on the map someone else posted. It seems to line up with the doors on the PDF file and everything stays within the building on my layout. Don't take it as the final layout, I could be wrong.

**On the overlay, you can see the grey boxes and black circles are the support columns. These should line up perfectly, but they are off on my picture. This leads me to believe that the overlay is the correct setup.

If this is how it ends up, Newton has quite the walk. I mean, it was long before, but now they have to go around half of Galileo and through the middle. Also, I noticed that it also says "Robot Path" to the far right. Is there two separate paths for queuing and returning this year?

That's just more of a designated robot freeway. You didn't necessarily queue until you reached the tunnel, but you had the path next to the wall marked off for robots only.

The "robot path" is where the crates are normally stored in years past. I wonder if they swapped the robot path and crate storage spots to move the traffic flow away from the main corner pit entrance...it becomes quite a mess with all the robots going back and forth in addition to people coming and going...

This map got sent to HoF teams. We are very happy to be closest to the corn dog vendor.

Can you post that here for those of us with severe corporate firewallss that can't get to dropbox or google drive?

Still getting used to this android thing. I guess I can upload files. Anyway, gotta go walk 10 miles uphill in the snow both ways to the airport now.

I meant firewalls, not fires.
We can't access the above or flickr or anything considered personal data storage from work. Something or other about fearing technical data export violations. I think a lot of us have this issue.
Thanks for reposting the map here.

Where on 7th and 9th St is load in? Door 4A on 9th St?

Any success on getting free corndogs for the mentors?
The bigger question for many of us who don't fly in until around 2 pm is where will the end of the line be at 3:00?

Did anyone else notice that 5041 in Archimedes has two pits, and that 5288 is missing entirely (yet is on the official team's list)?

Well, if you have to wait somewhere...:D

Oh, are we not supposed to play a giant game of Blob and try to take over as many teams' pits as possible?
I would suspect they just messed up the numbers. Give them a corndog and maybe they'll fix it.

Does anybody have alayout map of the arena this year with the division fields imposed on it? I know where the individual division fields were last year but I know that has no bearing on where they will be this year.
If Einstein is at 6 o'clock, clockwise from there fields are Galileo, Newton, Archimedes (BOY do they have a long way to walk), Curie, FTC pair of fields . I have no map/diagram, just observed it a few hours ago.

Hello,
Does Qualification matches start today at 10am central time? Also, is the webcast hosted by nasa?
Thanks

Yes, NASA will again be webcasting the FRC Championship this year. The links to all of the division streams can be found on this page (http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/robotics/first/st-louis-2014/).
FRC Qualification matches will begin at 9AM Central Time (10AM Eastern) today. The FRC Schedule can be found here (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2014/FIRST-CMP14-Public_Schedule-FRC.pdf), and the general Spectator Schedule can be found here (http://www.usfirst.org/sites/default/files/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FIRST_Championship/FIRST-CMP14-Spectator_Schedule.pdf).
