Definitely take the time and meticulously draw out the shafts and whatever spacing system you will use. All the correct hardware and tolerances. You (or whoever assembles it) will kick you in the butt when it comes together and there are issues with spacing. Looks good otherwise!
Tip: When you go to rivet it put the shafts and the bearings in first. This will ensure that you do not have alignment issues with your rigid frame ;)

Already done; spacing uses the stock VexPro delrin hex spacers with a bit of wiggle room added in the gusset spacing.

I cannot see how close to the frame perimeter the motors are, but I would be wary of the wires coming out of the back of the CIMs getting damaged by another robot ramming you. Other than that it looks really solid. Nice work!

I'd have to double-check the CAD, but I believe there's about a half inch of clearance.
I might move them in a bit anyway to allow for wider wheels.

It seems like your kind of converging on what 971 does, except with tubing instead of sheetmetal. They have their CIMs over their wheels, but also actually make the output of their gearbox a gear that connects to a gear on their center wheel, but externally to their gearbox. That way, they can take the gearbox off without taking the center wheel out, or take any belts off.
