Thanks so much to all teams involved in this fantastic alliance, as well as to 399, 2056, and 2175 for being awesome, gracious competitors.
I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank all the volunteers on Archimedes (and everywhere); without you, nothing could have happened anywhere.
EDIT: Final scores:
Blue alliance (51, 2485, 1918): 390 (70 auto, 300 teleop, 20 foul)
Red alliance (399, 2056, 2175): 256 (55 auto, 201 teleop)
1918 was thrilled to be picked by these two teams to make a great alliance. You all were great to work with.
I would like to echo the shout out to all the volunteers that continue to make the FIRST events what they are.

Very cool. We'd talked about doing something like this in the days prior to the Championship, especially if we were able to partner with a long trusser like 469, but ultimately didn't pull it off. Glad to see the parking strategy used successfully!

That might be my favorite strategy of the year! If the right robots come together I will definitely be pushing this strategy for the MN State Championship.

Even though our robot didn't play, it was a thrill being a part of this in some form. One of the best moments of my FIRST career, and if we could've kept that consistent, could've led to a nice Einstein showing. The strategy was so rock solid that even 2056's stellar defense wasn't enough to stop it.
Getting the ball into 1918 seemed to be the killer after that match, though--really tricky sometimes to get it in. I'm really glad that my senior season ended with such a phenomenal match.

Were the 20 foul points for 2056 being taller than 5ft?

Yup. As you can see, they got stuck on the truss, which by definition means they're >60": a 20-pt foul.

Overall, those three matches were the most exciting I've seen in FIRST. In three matches, the total combined score of both alliances was over 1600 points. In the end, though, the seed 8 alliance made less mistakes, and it tipped the balance in their favor. In match 3, if we made the truss shot correctly the match would have gone very differently, as it would have freed us up to play defense. Finally, huge shout-out to 51, 2485, 1918, 2056, and 399 for helping make the most exciting match I've ever seen

Great job by the human player. Every throw to 1918 was spot on.

The foul was on 399 for ramming 1918 at high speed.

To be clear this is incorrect. The foul was from 399 "high speed" ramming 1918. A rule update came out during one of weeks, that made certain forms of "ramming" a foul.....
As a inspector I can say with confidence 2056 was NOT taller then 60in but pretty close. They were hit or something that caused the robot to tilt up and hit the truss, now per QA if unintentional this is legal.

Impressive strategy and execution for sure.
It looks like they got an extra assist on one play that should not have counted at 1;45 on this video. The robot never crosses completely into the white zone before trussing but they get a third counted on this cycle: http://youtu.be/BS_1EqSJoCU?t=1m44s
I don't think they took it far enough.
I would like to see a strategy using all three human players with all three robots parked by them. Inbound to first robot with long truss to HP. Place the ball in the next robot (white zone) for shot over to other HP across the width of the field. HP toss into high shooting robot who finishes the cycle.
REALLY want to see this happen :D

It's hard to tell. It's possible all their wheels were in. If the referee saw that, or thought they saw that, then it's good.
They just have to be fully in contact with white.

If you told me that the world high score came in a QF 1-1, I wouldn't be surprised. But I never thought I'd see the 8 seed getting the world high score in QF 1-1 against the 1 seed, featuring 2056, OP Robotics, one of the best teams of the 3 team alliance era. Incredible job by 51, 2485, 1918, and even 781 for achieving that historic feat.

Thank you so much. If you'd told me at the beginning of the season we'd rack up the world high score against 2056 and 399 (who in my opinion may have been the best defensive team in all of FRC this year), I'd have laughed in your face and asked what you were smoking. It's still kind of surreal.
