The actual game hint will come out in late December, as it always does.
Several dozen things that will be falsely interpreted as game hints will or have already come out at a steady pace from now up until kickoff, or maybe even after kickoff if next year's game lacks an endgame.
Why does this thread even exist?

Not like we would figure out the game even with a hint 7 months in advance.
I can actually tell you that FIRST doesnt even know yet what game we are gonna play so how would they have to give us a hint then lol.

Games are designed at least a year in advance. While I cannot say for certain, I would guess they are currently fine-tuning the 2015 game. However, someone with more knowledge than I may be able to say with more clarity.

It's in the top right corner of the post in the form of a scale.

FRC withdrawal setting in fast huh?
Isn't it obvious? With the new "waterproof" components being released?
We will be playing Water Polo next year.
I hope the pool isn't too deep for the horses. :deadhorse:
No. Not this thread.
Not in MAY! :ahh:

Didn't they tell us a couple of years that they have started planning games 3 years in advance now?

Yes, but they still tweak things based on what went well and what didn't. Every year is a learning experience for the GDC and they try to implement those lessons immediately rather than three years after the fact.

Think about it. A golf game. 3 sections, 1st nice green carpet, 2nd water with bridges no sides, 3rd bumpy terrain with holes in diamond plate at different heights that balls must be hit into. Each alliance has 150 balls randomly placed over entire field. Balls retrieved from water score 3x points. End game would be robots on floating barges on each side of bridges.

Water aside, I think golf game would be cool. However, how do you yell "fore" in robot language?
probably not going to happen for safety reasons. Unless you put some netting, there is no way to insure no one will get injured by flying golf-balls

If I remember correctly, Frank said on GameSense that the rules (first draft) are finished sometime around October. I'm not sure about the other stages of production, but right now I'd guess they only have a general idea. That's my understanding.

Also, I've said it for a couple years now, it's going to be a football game.

Allow me to amend my previous statement, I should have said that "I have heard that games are designed at least a year in advance."

LOL, that's the wrong "fore" :D
I guess in binaryit would be:
01100110 01101111 01110010 01100101
and in hex:
66 6f 72 65

That would be interesting speaking the way a football is shaped.

I HAD to add water or someone else would have. Sand on the other hand would be completely doable.

"water aside" was added because at that time I just read way too many water related comments :) and think that water scenario is unlikely to happen because it comes with way too many variables and way too many huge challenges for organizers and participants alike.
As for golf game, it just occurred to me that real golf balls don't have to be used. Practice (plastic) golf balls would meet safety requirements .
I think robo-golf can be an awesome game :)

Please no. I don't want another shooting/throwing game, this would be 4 years in a row.

I know I really shouldn't make advanced guesses, but I am betting on football.
Reasons:
-Effective team sport
-Throwing mechanism with potentially spinning of ball to give solid, proper football throw
-Catching mechanism that adjusts ball into shooter
It could actually be extremely interesting.
Just saying, I have a feeling game pieces will be irregularly shaped.

Finally we get the long-dreaded "Triple Replay"!
For reference, 2005's Triple Play was an arm game--the last arm game to NOT feature inflatables as game pieces--and its vision targets were always "lit"--just they didn't have lights other than the arena lights. Programmers everywhere failed to manage that little issue, something about a slight change in arena lighting threw off the camera calibration very quickly.
"Triple Replay" was a nutty proposal later that year for the next game being the same, with massive restrictions on veteran teams' build time based on their mentorship of rookie teams. It obviously didn't go over well.

The 2009 game Lunacy was played on Regolith, a hard plastic that has less much less friction than carpet. It was designed to simulate the lack of gravity/"ice" on the moon.

We would destroy so many plastic golf balls O.o
Finally we get the long-dreaded "Triple Replay"!
Dreaded? I've been ready for a heavy lifting game like Triple Play since 2009! Bring it on, FIRST!
Dreaded? I've been ready for a heavy lifting game like Triple Play since 2009! Bring it on, FIRST!Uh... I think you'd better READ the Triple Replay post, found here (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37726).
Be VERY careful what you wish for. You just might get it!
That said, I too would like to see something that requires an arm/lift and does not involve spheres or cylinders being thrown, tossed, airmailed, or otherwise sent at high velocity to a goal. Preferably without inflatables. Hmmm... Stack COUNTER-Attack! (and use KOP totes for the gamepieces...)

Note the extreme differences in the robots today vs the robots of yesteryear. The power-to-weight ratio of our robots has increased tenfold in a decade* with the increase in CIMs, and variety of PG motors, Banebots, MiniCIMs, etc.
A lifting game with similar motor quantities as this year will be very exciting/ dangerous as robots could lift many many KOP crates at a time, or several hundred pounds that could pose serious threats to refs/etc if dropped.
TLDR Robots can even lift.

Wait a minute! "2015 Game Hint"! If you rearrange the letters, lose a few and add a few more you get: "2015 will be a Water Game"! Genius!
