2791 is definitely applying to IRI! We think we finally have the robot and drive team to get in, and there aren't conflicts with the date for us like last year.
One question - are there going to be nominations / recommendations again this year? A few of our friends are applying and we'd love to show our support.

With the number of good teams applying, I'd even hate to play against the 13th seeded alliance if there was one.

we will post the list of invited teams by late next week, and then it takes awhile to have a "final list". Some invited teams cannot attend for different reasons so it will probably be mid-June before we have a final line-up.
We will publish a match early the week before the IRI, to be sure we capture any late changes to the team list. It won't be "final" until Friday morning when we know everyone is there.

The Devastators have applied for the 1st time! lets see if we make it. Good luck to all teams who do make it!
Fun facts:
- 72 of the applied teams made the elimination rounds at Champs.
- 12/16 Einstein teams have applied, including all 4 World Champions, and 10/12 teams who played on Einstein.
- 11 Hall of Fame teams have applied.
- 21 World Championship winning teams have applied.
I spy 8 MAR teams on that list. Best of luck to all!
After going to IRI in 2012 and 2013 as a spectator, I'm going to miss it this year, sadly.

Well, the number of applicants are a bit higher this year, so the naturally the number of declines will be higher as well.

This game created a very large pool of good robots with varying levels of execution. With this kind of game I wouldn't envy having to cut out even 20 of these teams.

We are targeting a field of 70 teams. We will probably send invites to 73-75 and end with 70 attending.
With 70 teams, we can have a reasonable schedule each day and give teams 9 matches.
But if they show up, the dinner better have some corn dogs.
We will have to see if there are some leftovers from the Indiana State Fair.

With the list of applicants, many good teams will be left out.
And for those that make the cut, most will not make eliminations.
Making eliminations and having a "good" match schedule will be an accomplishment in itself.
