We are pleased to announce an expanded Arkansas off-season event for 2014. The Ozark Mountain Brawl will be held in Bud Walton Arena on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville July 25-26.
Match play will begin on Friday evening. Detailed schedule to come later.
Cost is only $100 payable to Arkansas FIRST. PM me for payment information or if you need an invoice.
The 2014 Ozark Mountain Brawl is hosted by FRC 3612, GearHogs, and FRC 16, Bomb Squad, and sponsored by the University of Arkansas, Ozark STEM Foundation and Arkansas FIRST.
Yippee! What's the "expanded" capacity Meredith?

Bud Walton Arena is very large, of course, but I don't really have a hard number. I expect we will have plenty of room for whomever wants to come. I have heard 60, but haven't reviewed the venue yet.
Hey Meredith,
Woohoo, more info please!!!!!!!

Hi Meredith,
as mentioned earlier, Team 359 is interested in attending.
Once we hear back from our travel agency and get our school paperwork in order, we can let you folks know.
Right now, I think its a 80% chance we will attend back to back events doing IRI and Ozark, if approved by the selection committee.
And by the way, we did research Silver Dollar City. ;) Looks good!
** Can you provide shipping logistic info as well. I believe I can get a FedEx sponsorship to ship our robot to IRI, to you folks, and then back home to Hawaii. Are we able to ship directly to the University? or if we need help with transporting our robot crate from IRI to Ozark, is that possible?

Glenn,
I will ask the U of A folks about the robot shipping there. Shouldn't be a problem. We might be able to make room in the Bomb Squad trailer for your robot, but not the crate. So shipping is likely the best option. Can they get it there in less than a week?

They can receive the robot and crate at U of A. Chase can send you details.

The 2014 Ozark Mountain Brawl website is live here: http://first.uark.edu/
You can register for the event and explore the low-cost housing and dining options available to teams. Big thanks to the University of Arkansas for organizing this and Ozark STEM Foundation for sponsoring the event.
If you have already let me know your team is attending and have received an invoice, you do not have to register on the website. But you will need to go through that portal if you plan to take advantage of the housing/ dining opportunities.

Definitely do not miss Silver Dollar City if you have time and money. There is a lot to see and do. Many amusement rides and lots of crafts to see. Food is great and people are kind. It may be crowded, but it is still fun.
Team 1730 is looking forward to coming. We just aren't sure how many, yet.

We are planning a 16/ 359 day at Silver Dollar City on July 24 (I believe). 1730 should join us on your way to Fayetteville!

What is a 16/359 day? I am not sure who is going and what they want to do. I thoroughly enjoy going several times a year. I normally have a season pass, but haven't got one this year. Let us know what the plans are.

Teams 16 and 359 are getting group rate tickets and meeting at SDC for the day.
Team 1730 is registered and looking forward to being there! Love the option of staying on campus to mingle with the other teams.

It would be nice for one more team then to put it at 21 but the Mountain Brawl should still be a blast. I know we are looking forward to heading down tomorrow for the event. Hope you all and 359 have a blast at SDC.

I know. I have been calling the missing AR teams, but no luck. The timing is bad for teacher-led teams mostly.
Will there be a webcast of the event?

At this point it seems like there will not be one, as there is no webcast link on TBA. Considering the time I'd assume that the event has already started.

No load in isn't set to start for another 30 min or so. I didn't see anyone setting up any thing that looked like it could be for a webcast at field setup last night though.

Thank you! I requested TBA to add it as the webcast so that others can find the webcast easier.
Looks like the webcast is dead.

Indeed. Has it been working for anyone? When I was trying to watch nothing was showing up.

I shamefully admit that this is my first time doing a webcast. We added the rankings late in the day after realizing we missed that piece (sorry).
We'll be be streaming again around 8:15am (central time ) tomorrow.

The schedule says 2 central time but they are closing the field down for practice at 1:40. My guess would still be two though.

Team Driven enjoyed coming for the fun. We thank you for your hospitality and had a great time at the social on Friday night. The weather was good, the music was great and the interaction between teams was enjoyable to see. I hope the rookie teams got some inspirations from the veterans. We hope to see those that can come this fall to the Cowtown Throwdown (Oct. 31 & Nov. 1) We enjoy having different teams come and experience our section of the country. We hope the weather is good and the spirits are high.

Team 6001 - Rocky Balboabots wish to graciously thank everyone who helped us with assistance, advice, support and encouragement. We were humbled by the support of all of the teams in attendance at the event. As a mentor of a brand new team, I can think of nothing better than watching the student's faces as the crowd cheered them on in the finals.
A thank you to the outstanding teams 1986 Team Titanium & 1730 Team Driven for working with our team as equals - you have no idea how that impacted our students. We are grateful for the opportunity to compete side by side with you.
A very special thank you to Team 16 Baxter Bomb Squad for continuing assistance and advice as we worked to build a team that could attend and compete at the 2014 Ozark Mountain Brawl.

Sorry if this post seams a little late, but catching up on college papers will do that too you. I firstly want to express the amazing gratitude from all of our team to the University of Arkansas Engineering Department for all of their hard work for this event. It was really well ran and the accommodations along with the price was absolutely fantastic. I would more than recommend any team to attend this event in the future. Second off I want to thank team 3481 for being such a great pit partner. Our team packed extremely light and you all were there to help us out every time, even after our teams beat the snot out of each other ;) . Finally, I would like to thank our alliance partners teams 359 and 16. I know you all had no choice on the pick, but our team still appreciated how you all still let us have an opinion in how we were going to play the games out and I really can't quantify the experience our students and myself gained by working with you all during the elimination rounds. Thanks again for carrying us to our first ever FRC event win, and I hope we all can play together again in the future.
Also if anyone is interested in watching any of the matches from the event, you can catch them here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/50560878 I have already highlighted the finals matches and I will try to finish the elimination matches sometime this week.
