View Full Version : Robot Cart upgrades
Well we finished out robot and we had some extra time while our drivers were practicing so we figured we would upgrade our cart. Now we are currently still finishing the final upgrades but I really wanted to show off a cool feature we installed on our cart. I'll post the full specs on our cart tomorrow but for now here is a little teaser.

Very cool!
If the sensor is vibration-based, be sure to isolate it from cart vibrations so that it'll only respond to the music while the cart is moving and not pick up every little bump the cart hits (Though maybe that's a feature! :) ).

Just want to point out that noise makers are not allowed to function at competition
To protect team members from muscle strains and other injuries as they transport the robot between the Pits and the competition area, we strongly recommend team members use a cart. Please keep the following in mind:
Carts must remain in the team Pit area when not in use for robot transportation;
All carts should fit through a standard 30-inch door;
Wheels on the cart must not damage site flooring;
Do not add music or other sound devices to the cart; and
Put your team number on your cart so it can be identified by field personnel.
Really cool though! and there is nothing against underglow

Haha totally forgot about that rule:yikes:
Still a really cool function to use at outreach events.

5052 (which built it's first cart) has something similar going on for TRR: http://puu.sh/azIvL/1fd3326515.png

That's super cool! Under glow carts are the best!
For a brief period of time this season we had lights that went with the music as well only they were on our robot, I'll see if I can dig up a video of it.
EDIT: You can kind of see the lights switching color with the game announcers voice and field sounds in this video

I dont think anybody will mind a little noise making at events, I hear teams all the time. Team TNT plays TNT by ACDC before matches and nobody minds it
Hello Safiq
It was great to work with you and your team, the Broncbots and 5052 this past weekend.
Your cart looks really cool (so does the one made by our alliance mate, 5052). Ours is pretty plain in comparison.
The book I was speaking to you about is "First Robots: Aim High", by Wilczynski.

Please feel free to get in touch if you need any help.
We hope to see you at Remix in the fall.

Regardless if 'anybody will mind' it or not, it's still against the rules at events.
That said, it's an awesome, super fun idea for outreach events, and go OP for doing it.
I hope it gets you some positive attention at non-FIRST-competition venues.
I also love 5052's cart - definitely going to be 'borrowing' the photos for 1923, since our competition cart needs a serious overhaul. :)

Wait following rules? Since when has that been a thing?
