I went today to order a couple WCP Hall Effect Sensors (http://www.wcproducts.net/hall-effect/), and can't stomach $17 in UPS Ground shipping on a $20 order for something that is marked as weighing 0.01oz. Anyone aware of sources for this part, or have one that they'd be willing to lend out?

Steve,

We've had other customers complain about the high shipping fee for 1-2 parts. Its due to how bigcommerce handles their shipping API. We are working on a fix, but if you email support or me directly, we'll ship out the package via USPS for $6 or so.

Hey RC,
That is exactly what I was going to suggest.
On small items that can fit in a flat pack, and the Hall effects are a perfect example, USPS is a great option. Maybe you can add that to the WCP shipping offerings for "small" items.

On the page you suggest using this product in place of mechanical switches to limit movement, is this implying that the sensor doesn't switch fast enough to be used for measuring RPM? If not, what is the maximum recommended switching frequency?

Could you also provide some more information such as what the actual sensor is, and if it's mono/bi/unipolar?

The chopper on the chip on the board samples at 10 khz.

It is level sensitive (which is awesome). I forget if it is a north or south pole, but it only switches when the correct pole is present.

I feel like a knucklehead now. I just placed an order for two of these, but forgot about the $6 dollar option. And.... I posted about it myself!!!! :ahh:
