Who's the group that's running this event?
Well, the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), FIRST Robotics Canada and its based at Victoria Park CI, home to team 4914, so I assume them as well.
Does anyone know what the celebrity team matches are at lunch? Sounds interesting but I can't find anything about it online.

No one knows for sure or at least not telling but come on who wouldn't like to see Rob Ford, John Tory and Oliva Chow go at it :)
And for the record; 2935 will be there with Under-taker.
I really can't wait to see the team list for this event!
5031 Is super excited to be participating. We will be making improvements to our robot, it will no longer just be a low goal'in defense machine.

Should be tons of fun!!!!!!!!
Has there been a team list posted anywhere?

Third on the request for a team list. It would be great to see who is going, and how many spots are still available.
Also some more info on celebrity matches and the awards criteria would be nice.

From what I've heard the event is full. I too would love a team list. Gotta get the strategy on.

I am shocked to see that 1114, 610 and *1241 are not on that list.
*yes I know 1285
610 has already committed to competing at Rah Cha Cha on Oct 18th.
We will be sending a number of team members as volunteers, however.
Additionally, members of our Beta Test team will be there to show the new 2015 control system.

I hear your 2 ball autonomous is pretty solid.
Did you guys get a new 2-ball auto, I'm pretty confident the one on Curie was against a rule - I think it goes to the effect if you have a robot in the goalie zone, its ball cannot be "possessed" by any robot. It however can be placed on the field.

Try again.
The rule referenced is G5. The portion of that that you're thinking of (the second of three, not counting the penalty description) reads "For ROBOTS starting in their GOALIE ZONE the TEAM may decide if the BALL is: staged between the TRUSS and the ZONE LINE and not contacting an ALLIANCE partner, or removed from the FIELD for the MATCH."
Mind you, that does mean that as long as that there is light showing between the second ball and the robot (or other similar test), it doesn't really matter how close to the partner robot it is. Also note that if it had been against a rule, the Curie refs would have dealt with it promptly by either removing the ball or applying technical fouls.

Here's a video, which shows that two balls are clearly in contact with the robot. I'm quite amazed myself that the Curie refs didn't take care of it.

After seeing the video, I agree, that's not a legal starting configuration for the balls, and should have been a tech foul for starting that way (G5). Apparently the Curie refs didn't agree--one is clearly seen talking to the team. Unless this is a practice match, of course--but MCs don't introduce practice matches.
So,
Best Auto?
Best Defense bot?
Best Inbounder?
Best Finisher?
Best trusser/middle bot?
Your opinions?

Our 2 ball was just our one ball with a second ball. We weren't 100% sure on the rule for the 2nd ball (Since we can only do a low goal auto a 2 ball auto is rarely necessary) we decided to ask the ref. They said it was fine so we ran it. No foul was given.

Yeah, just speculating though.
For "best defence" there are four teams with 3 cim ball shifters

3683
5031
and two robots with 3cim single speeds

I believe 865 is a single speed.

I believe for GTR W they had their shifter only in one speed due to lack of parts. They are most definitely two speed now.

Small pits, and it sounds like power might not be available in the pits.

Only hints, no details.
Pun'choo: \ˈpənchü\
Noun, a combination of a linear punch and the JVN style choochoo mechanism.
Inspired by Waffles 4476 And Titanium 1986.
Maybe more hints later, but most likely you will have to wait for Fall Fiesta.
From what I've heard from FIRST Canada, they'll be trying to schedule atleast 7 matches per team. I really hope they're balanced.

its always hard to have a balanced match schedule for everyone, especially with only 7 matches. I just hope for good clean matches that are rarely decided by penalties.

Assuming their are 33 qualification matches. In a perfect world we would be playing on a 6 minute match schedule. That's fairly quick for most regionals. But more importantly everyone makes the elimination rounds. So we're all guaranteed another 2 matches.
On that note, A broken robot in the elimination rounds will massive burden. No backup robots are available.

Update 3!
FIRST Fall Fiesta – Update #3
Practise Field Open
Victoria Park Collegiate Institute is inviting teams to practice at the venue this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-8pm. Teams who participate will be allowed to leave their robots at the school until the Saturday event. The venue has a three quarter practice field with a truss and high goals! Contact Bruce Garrett (teacher) for scheduling your team for practice. Bruce.garrett@tdsb.on.ca
Match Seating and Viewing
Teams are asked to be considerate with regard to the limited seating. We have approximately 350 bleacher seats which gives each team about 12 seats. To compensate, we have the cafeteria overflow area where there will be a live video feed to show the matches in real-time. This area will hold up to 500 hundred people and will have a large screen display of all matches.
Schedule
7:00 a.m. Doors Open
8:00 Drivers Meeting
8:20 Announcements & Anthem
8:30 Qualification Matches (7 matches each)
12:00 Lunch
1:00 Celebrity Match & Alliance Selections
2:00 Elimination Matches
4:00 Awards (some may be interspersed between final matches)
5:00 Wrap Up & tear down
Celebrity Match
We are thrilled to feature a Celebrity Match which provides an opportunity for students to work collaboratively with senior school board officials in a STEM challenge. The match will also highlight females as leaders in Robotics. We ask that all teams ensure they are back early from lunch to support the Celebrity Match.
Important Reminders
• Pits are sized at 8’ x 8’, each will have a table ***no power
• Batteries will be in a separate room from the pits
• Load In 6-8pm Friday Oct 31
Looking good, Im really happy that there will be practice available. Would have been nice to hear about it earlier, but im not complaining. 5031 will most likely be there on Thursday to do final tweaks on the new and improved robot.

5031 and 865 both dropped our bots off last night at Victoria Park. 1815's robot was already there, as was 4914. We will probably be practicing after 4:00 today, and look forward to dialing in our new setup.
Anyone else planning to come play today?
Ohh man, wish my team knew about this earlier. It would have been great practice with the new members, and today we have a grade 8 advantage night, so we are unable to go ... oh well, we will still be ready to go on saturday!

Yeah it was announced kind of last minute, the night before we were going to practice with another team, causing our practice schedule to be flipped on it's head. BUT I would rather have our drive team play on vic park's 3/4 field than on a small piece of carpet. So although it caused a lot of last minute decisions, Our team is very grateful.

4476 had a great time at the Fall Fiesta and would like to thank all the planners who were involved! The event was well run and our team had a ton of fun.
Thanks to our alliance partners 865 and especially 2056 for being patient and helping us out with our robot failures as the eliminations progressed. All 2056 members were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and it was an honor to have worked with you guys. Clearly our robot has seen better days, and I only wish we were executing nearly as well as we were at any of our in-season events.
Congrads to 4946, 1285 (1241), 746. 4946 you were on fire with all those quick trusses and i'm sure you guys will be a force to be reckoned with for the 2015 season. 1241 you guys just keep getting better every year it's always a pleasure to be on the field with you guys, no matter what side of the glass we are on. Your drive team is incredibly gracious and supportive in all that you do. 746! Congrads on the win! I hope you guys use this win as motivation to keep pushing and do even better for the 2015 season.
It was an incredible event for one hosted out of a public school and 5036 is extremely thankful to all those involved, it couldn't be better. To the awesome volunteers, who helped us find a new Digital Sidecar after ours fried in QF1-1, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Congratulations to 1285, 4946, and 746. Thanks to 4946 for helping us out and practising with us the eve of the competition. You guys are amongst one of my favourite rookies and it'd be amazing to see how you progress next year!

+1 to everything you said. We had the pleasure of also working with 2056 at Waterloo while our robot was in a much rougher form and we all left inspired by their incredible patience, knowledge and experience.
Sorry about that last minute foul, after analysing the video it looks like we had an issue shifting the right gearbox into high gear so we were unable to back away from 1241 far enough to not get a pinning foul. We don't have a on-board compressor and because of some missing fittings we were only running 2 out of 4 air tanks we usually run. This was usually enough but due to the increased defence we had issues shifting by the end of the match.
