I don't feel like they play Sandstorm as much at Californian events. Its always usually Daft Punk or some other mash-up.

I'm pretty sure that was played in an elimination match in LA...or it might just have been sounding in my head

Don't forget more Justin Bieber and Backstreet Boyz ;)

That said, I could go for better music at FRC events......FRC Top 40, Cotton Eye Joe, and mediocre electronic gets old after 3 seasons :p

Can we please please please agree as a community to never play the Cotton Eye Joe or the Cha Cha Slide ever again at a competition? Having heard them once in my life is really enough, now, I just want to rip my ears off with visegrips.

I have heard some Rush the past few competitions, which is a definite plus. 2112 makes elims feel intense without making me groan from the overplayedness.

We had a blanket ban on the standard audience-participation songs at Chezy Champs. I don't think anyone missed them.

How about this infamously recorded Hall of Fame FIRST Edition? I'd like to hear that at FiM.

Hmmm, I think those might be misheard lyrics. Here are the real ones (http://pop.genius.com/Darude-sandstorm-lyrics).

I think he's referring to the meme surrounding the song. Whenever a song plays (especially on streams), people ask for the name of the song, and they usually get a troll response along the lines of any but not limited to the following: Darude - Sandstorm, Dyrude - Saltstorm, Sarude - Dandstorm, etc.

But, but, its not a true FRC event without playing cotton eye Joe, or cha cha slide at least once, just wouldn't feel the same, but I agree with you it does get annoying it just wouldn't be the same with-out it.

Then I will be outside watching the pigs fly around, because FRC will have become boring.

Until that day, dance on. Macarena, chicken dance, cotton-eyed joe, cha-cha slide, hokey-pokey, whatever you like.

Sad thing is, I requested this song at one of the events I went to and the DJ refused to play it, saying they only play "frc-approved" songs.

What if, instead of that jazzy tune they normally play during the game reveal animation, there was Darude-Sandstorm playing in the background.

I call for more Mexican techno music. El Sonidito is well-known thanks to GTA5 and is just the tip of the beepy dances iceberg.

Was very pleased that my team played the winning final match at Crossroads to YYZ.
