Best mechanisms

CD community:

I am working on a project and I need to compile a list of good/excellent examples of different mechanisms. I am looking specifically at individual mechanisms, not necessarily whole robots.

For example: in 2007 The Pink Team 233 had a great arm for handling inner tubes. It pivoted about the center of the chassis, telescoped and had a "C" shaped claw with rollers at the ends. Rollers were individually operated so the inner tube could be pivoted about the hold point.

If you can reach in your collective memory and provide a description (or even better a picture of video) I would appreciate it.

It does not matter how far back you have to go, a good mechanism is a good mechanism.

2014 254's clapper popper/pinniped. A very simple mechanism that just worked. It aided as the mechanism to send the ball into the flywheel as well as pushing the ball out of the front or back of the robot for assists or low goal scoring.

2014-254 wheeled shooter due to it high release point and double collectors
2013 others have given good examples. I would add floor pickups from that year (33, 469, 987, 2054, a few others)
2012, 67 collector bridge adjuster arm. Built in could only collect 3 balls thus no penalty.
2011-the roller collector with release jaw. There were several examples, but this was by far the best tube gather and release mechanism.

2010 pincher gripper. It was a game changer.
2009-1114 elevating ball sorter was very cool and prevented jams.
2008-1114 ball collector puncher. Though even better refinements of that design came back for 2014.

I can go a little further back...

1999 - our team, 157, had what we called an "outrigger" system that allowed us to climb onto the rolling puck without issue (for the most part, lookin at you 45 :D ). 2004 - I believe both 190 (Gompei) and 126 (Gael Force) had pretty awesome climbing mechanisms. 190's was simple yet effective, they could block the bar so it made it difficult to latch on. 126 could reach up and climb from the floor without having to climb the steps.

I will agree with you Completely. Also I really enjoyed Team 27's "claw" from that year. It was just neat to see.
