Goodbye Ellie! Hello Q and A!

Day 3 of TeamREDACTED's livestream has ended for the night! We had to say goodbye to Ellie as she was taken appart at 10:22pm PST in order to give her parts back to the teams that so graciously allowed us to borrow them the first 2 days of build season! Thank you everyone for tuning in and watching our videos! Here is our schedule for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 6th, 2015:

At 6pm PST (9pm EST) we'll begin to livestream our team debrief session where we'll be planning for our Detailed Design Review video shoot.

At 6:30pm PST (9:30 EST) we will open up our livestream to all questions anyone may have. Someone will be monitoring the stream for this Q&A and feeding us the questions.

At 7:00pm PST (10:00pm EST) we will transition into shooting our Detailed Design Review video which we will upload on the 2015 Ri3D YouTube page.

http://www.facebook.com/teamredacted

Please do ask questions during the livestream starting at 6pm and we'll go through as many as we can!

Thank you all for watching! We had a ton of fun building Ellie. See you tomorrow evening! Cheers!

Thank you so much for sharing these!

Although you have a functioning robot, you must admit, there is room for improvement. 6 weeks is an amazingly large amount of time to iterate these designs to perfection.

I mean no disrespect what so ever by these comments! Just 3 days to get to this point is amazing.

The best part about sharing these videos is it gives other teams an idea of some of the obstacles that will need to be overcome!

Simple things like:
Lift motor mounts that aren't robust. Front weighted fork lifts can tip even the heaviest robot if not addressed.
Bins are inherently unstable if not held onto.

All of these "issues" can be learned from just as easily as "successes" can be.

Again, THANKS FOR SHARING!

We will discuss the short comings of our designs this evening and answer some questions from viewers tonight starting at 6pm Pacific.

One big problem with the Ri3D timeline other than the fact that time is so limited is that a lot of the building is when there are little to no sources for parts an materials and certainly no time to ship thing from some of the many suppliers that specialize in parts for FRC. So some of a number of our choices were driven by what we had on hand.

Be sure to tune in tonight http://www.ustream.tv/channel/firstwa-red

Also like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/teamredacted

And check our website out www.teamredacted.org where we should have a detailed article covering the short comings and things we would consider doing to attempt to make the machine more robust and capable.

Keep in mind our main goal were to produce a machine in the 3 day limit and to do so without the used of any advanced fabrication techniques or tools.

One last plug for the live stream of our final thoughts and a Q&A session on Team [REDACTED]'s Robot in 3 Days will go live here http://www.ustream.tv/channel/firstwa-red in approximately 45 minutes.

Questions can also be posted in this thread and I'll try and check them throughout the stream.

Due to a internet outage out of our control we will have to delay the livestream of our final thoughts. We should start shortly. Thanks for your patience.

I couldnt agree more. Even with our prototyping journey so far, sharing your design provides useful ideas to help all of us see what possible challenges to look out for. In the end, it can only help teams refine their own design ideas into a working robot at the end of the 6 weeks.

We have a timed practice match up.

http://teamredacted.org/2015/01/08/full-practice-match-video-is-up/

Note this is without any real practice so I'm sure it could get faster if there was some time for practice.

Please stay tuned as we will have the full reveal video up soon.
