You can read the article here. http://m.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/local/robotics-competition-kicks-off-at-suncoast-high/njfrn/
We talked to a reporter, who said he was trying to spread the word about FIRST.
The reporter seemed to think our discussion of the beta was about designs:rolleyes:

We had a local article (http://www.heraldandnews.com/news/robotics-students-receive-challenge/article_24cfb9a8-93d0-11e4-913f-3b60ac039d35.html) as well. Our kickoff all-nighter included several teams from Southern and Central Oregon. Of course the reporter was there after the kids had been up all night with a LAN and board game party. Some of the comments may have been due to sleep deprivation. :D

It's an interesting thing working with reporters. You try to give them the information and some suggestions on directions they can take, but you can never really know how well you communicated your points or what bits they keyed in on until you see what comes out in the news.
You can see some of that in the report that one of the local stations aired in Duluth. http://www.wdio.com/article/stories/S3665855.shtml?cat=10335 If you know FRC you know some bits of that report aren't quite right.
But publicity and increased public awareness is always good. One of the nice things about living in a smaller city is that you can actually get a couple of minutes on the evening news for robotics.
