Generational Differences, FRC Style:

"When I was your age, we walked to the shop uphill both ways, barefoot over broken glass, 10 miles each way, every day. When we got there, we loaded the punchcards and paper tape and hoped nobody messed up. Finally, we upgraded to the latest processor: The IFI Robot Controller. You young whippersnappers have everything handed to you: mecanum code, CAN, USB, AND Ethernet! We had to build our own converters! And with all this talk about electronics, this RC is STILL smaller than your fancy-dancy, newfangled Oreo of a controller, and the system boots and runs a match before yours even wakes up!"

"Yeah, but can yours decipher the 2018 game hint yet?"

The model on the left is tried and true, the model on the right has near unlimited potential. The robot controllers they're holding are pretty neat, too.

The growth in FRC controllers is vastly exceeding the rate of inflation. Fortunately for us, vastly exceeding the rate of inflation is always a completely sustainable path to be on.

Digital Goats invent time travel and bring a mentor in from 2003. Then discover that said mentor has no idea what electronics to use.
