One of the team members on #173 went up to Dean Kamen after the New England Regional. He asked the same question everbody else asks, but Dean said that he'll tell the world at next year's nationals. Has anybody else heard this?

are you sure this guy wasn't lieing to you? I mean I'm in full support that thats where he would do it that would be the perfect time for him to do it, but for him to tell a random kid and not the entire world when hes going to reveal the famous "IT"? I don't think so.

I heard it too at the UTC, but then- I think I heard it through the grapevine that started with RAGE ;o) I have a good feeling he'll do it at Nats 2002 though. It would be silly otherwise if you think about it!

I just learned today that Dean Kamen will be at WPI on March 30th. It got me thinking, my birthday is on the 31st. Could he be coming with the secret agenda of giving me my own "IT" for my birthday present? Only time will tell.

What it's Dean's passion of all the projects he works on which does he feel is most important?? I think he has said numerous times it is FIRST without a doubt. He has also said that it the media should get thier priorities straight and stop IT chasing and start giving FIRST _real_ coverage. When I FIRST heard about the idea of him revealing IT at Nationals...it just fits. I mean think about it...if he tells the world that sometime durning FIRST nationals he will reveal IT. Basically he will have every major media outlet in the world descending upon the FIRST nationals and they will have no choice but to cover it. Free coverage for FIRST...it's the only way he would do it.

It changes the way people think..
WE could design cities around it..
Take your robot into a couple pieces, it fits in duffel bags and can be assembled in 10mins, right??
:) Wishful thinking maybe..

Did Dean ever explicitly say the i-bot was not "IT"?
DEKA = first two letters of Dean and Kamen....
Take first and last letters from from "i-bot" and you have "IT"....
hmmmm...what if everyone already knows it, but doesn't know it.....naw, too easy?
?
