We are having an issue with our camera feed showing up on our dashboard. We are using the default dashboard and an ip camera. We used the configuration tool that came with labview and verified our settings on screenstepslive. We have gotten the camera feed in the webviewer on two separate computers, both over ethernet and the radio. We changed the box on the DS to "IP Camera" but it won't show up on the dashboard, even as it shows up on the webview. We have tried 3 different axis cameras, all with the same results. Please help. Thank you.

Did you activate the NI Vision software when you installed the FRC Driver Station update?

What IP are you viewing in the web view? The IP camera setting on the dashboard uses the DNS name axis-camera.local. This works well for Axis M1013 model cameras, but at least for the older cameras I tested, their default name was different. If this is the issue, you can either configure the camera's DNS name to match the DB, or you can customize the DB to hardcode the IP address.

The other thing to check is to run robot code. For some settings, the DB needs to know the IP address, and the DS must tell it. The DS does that when it actually sees code running on the robot.

I had this same problem Saturday. So can I keep the settings from last year and have this work?

There are no rules or safety concerns about the IP addresses of secondary devices on your robot. If you want to keep things the same as last year, I think that will be fine. But, you are also postponing learning about new stuff like mDNS. You don't want to make a habit of that.

Thanks Greg I plan on knowing more about mDNS. I just have the optics set how I want them and don't want to mess with what works. If I can get at them I will record the settings and set it up right.

I've changed the dns name of my Axis M1011 to axis-camera.local, however the Camera image still did not appear on the dashboard. I've tried looking for a setting for setting the camera ip in the dashboard but have not found it. I think we've tried running it with code, any other troubleshooting steps I should perform?

It has been a few months, but I remember the Axis setup being a bit confusing. I believe I had to switch the DNS setting away from auto in order to enter a name. I saved and tried it and it didn't work. Then I switched auto back on and found that it worked the way I wanted. I did it on several models of cameras, so sorry if the details aren't that clear. But poke around with the DNS and I think you'll get it to work.

To answer your direct question, if you build the dashboard from template, you can scroll to the video loop and use whatever IP you like. You do not have to use mDNS to locate the camera, we just thought that it was the better way to do it.

Thank you, I will try this.

I'm sorry, could you specify what you mean by build from template? I have very little experience with LABVIEW Dashboard.
Thanks

When you create a new project in LabVIEW, you have the option of creating a roboRIO project or a Dashboard project. The Dashboard project template is the code for the default Dashboard. Just create a new Dashboard project and make whatever changes are appropriate before building it.
